Song Categories are Experimental, and I need your help

I have just added Song Categories as an experimental feature of this archive. While I have written the software to do handle song categories and to automatically index and cross-reference the categories, I do not have the time or the expertise to actually go and figure out what category each song of the archive belongs to.

I have, however, added a facility such that information about the categories a song belongs to can be submitted online by users of the archive. Hopefully, enough users will use this feature, and soon we will have a rich collection of categories.

You can help: if you have a few minutes

If you are looking at the lyrics of a particular song, and you think that the song should belong to a particular category (e.g. Qawwalis) just use the big yellow "Add Category" button and take a few minutes to fill out the information.

You can really, really help: if you have a few hours

Send me e-mail if you are willing to volunteer a little of your time to categorize some of the songs. I could assign you some 50 songs (or whatever) and send you a text file containing the lyrics of those songs. You can then look at those songs in your free time and decide what categories they belong to, and then just e-mail back the information to me.

Suggest New Categories

Right now this archive just contains a short list of interesting categories that I could think of on the spur of the moment. Obviously there are many other categories that people would be interested. Send me e-mail if you want to suggest new categories to be added to the list.
