I was established in rural Indiana during the Ford Administration. My studies brought me through central Illinois, to grungy Madison, before leaving me at my present home in suburban Chicago. You can email me using this page; I'm using it to hide my email.
Interests
- Jesus Christ "Interest" is rather an understatement, but in the search for a more suitable term, I realized I could not capture in words Christ's importance to me. He shapes my hopes and my dreams and my very purpose in life.
- dancing I started dancing in 1998. I've learned many dances, from Viennese waltz to rumba, and my favorite is lindy hop. Part of the love is the dance: an improvization of movements that cause me to appreciate the syncopation within the music. Part of the love is the community: they are generally friendly people, and many of them are geeks too. And, somewhat obviously, there are usually a lot of women too.
- computers I earned a computer science degree without owning a computer; it was part adolescent pride and part college distractions. Despite current actions to the contrary, I find people more interesting than computers. Yet the lost hours of my life spent with the machine deserve a mention.
- photography A current hobby. I haven't made a portfolio yet, but you can check out some of my work.
On Being Rich
The land of a rich man was very productive. And he began reasoning to himself, saying, "What shall I do, since I have no place to store my crops?" Then he said, "This is what I will do: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. And I will say to my soul, 'Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years to come; take your ease, eat, drink and be merry.'"
But God said to him, "You fool! This very night your soul is required of you; and now who will own what you have prepared?" So is the man who stores up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.
