Bret Payseur
Principal Investigator
Bret founded the Payseur lab at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2005. He received his bachelor’s degree (Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology/ Anthropology) from the University of Colorado, his Master’s degree (Evolutionary Biology) from Northwestern University, and his doctoral degree (Ecology and Evolutionary Biology) from the University of Arizona, where he trained with Michael Nachman. Bret did postdoctoral research at Cornell University, with Andy Clark.
Beth Dumont
Graduate Student
Beth received her bachelor’s degree (Biology) from Cornell University. Beth is studying the evolution of recombination rate in mammals. She is supported by a Predoctoral Fellowship from the National Science Foundation .
Michael White
Graduate Student
Mike received his bachelor’s degree from Western Washington University (Biology), and his master’s (Entomology) from Washington State University. Mike is studying the genetics of speciation in house mice. He is supported by a Computation and Informatics in Biology and Medicine Fellowship from the University of Wisconsin .
Ryan Haasl
Graduate Student
Ryan received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (Biology), and his master’s (Entomology) from the University of Kansas. Ryan is studying the inference of population structure from molecular markers and is co-advised by Don Waller .
Peicheng Jing
Programmer Analyst
Peicheng received bachelor’s degree and master’s degrees (Biochemistry) from Peking University, and an additional pair of master’s degrees (Pharmaceutical Biochemistry and Computer Science) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Peicheng is analyzing genomic patterns of polymorphism in humans and surveying variation in wild mice.
