Solid tablet, a little underpowered

Posted by: Cradman03 from on 08/28/2015The Dell Venue 8 Pro is a good device. The 1200x800 resolution works well for the size and the atom processor is capable if not super fast. Windows 10 works pretty well although it seems to take more memory than Windows 8. The 1 gb of ram that comes with it was OK on 8, but it is pretty maxed out in 10. I removed Chrome because it was really slowing it down.

Horrible Customer Service and Repair

Posted by: CriticalAlpha from on 06/08/2015I have spent approximately eight hours on the phone, and shipping my tablet back and forth to the Dell service depot. The first issue was a dead/dying Wi-Fi card, when I got my tablet back there was debris under the screen. After being told that wasn't covered under warranty I finally got them to agree to the repair, so I sent it back. The part was on back order, so I waited a week extra. I received my tablet back the other day and it is not assembled properly. The back of the tablet is bowed out and there is a pressure mark/halo on the screen. The issue is still pending and I don't know where we go from here. Normally I would write it off as a loss and never return to Dell, but I am fighting cancer, money is tight, and I have a bit more time to spend than usual. If you get a tablet that works I am sure it is great. If you don't good luck, and don't plan on contacting anyone within the United States. There is not a single number you can call that will allow you to speak to an American Dell representative.

Low battery life sank an otherwise good product

Posted by: telecaster55 from on 05/06/2015First off, I'm a fan of Dell, and when I was looking for an 8" tablet, I was happy to find this on in stock and on sale at my local BB. I've got a MS Surface RT, and thought this would make a good complement in a smaller frame. It worked great. Device connected neatly to the internet; it remembered my setting from other devices. All in all, it looked like a great purchase. However, once I plugged it in and charged it all the way up, I began to notice a problem. After a full charge, within minutes of unplugging it, and I'm talking less than 5 minutes, the battery was down to 95%. Even leaving it alone and going to black screen did not stop the siphoning of power. In less than an hour it was below 85%, and that's without being used. This in a nutshell is why I promptly returned it to the store. Sorry Dell.

Okayish, if you've never seen an iPad.

It lasted three weeks

Posted by: MIKE from on 04/27/2015I liked the unit. The battery did not last as long as it spec'd out. After 3 weeks it would not charge. So when I tried to get a new one, I was told it was discontinued.

Many problems

Very affordable
