Did not work! Don't buy!

Posted by: sparkles from on 09/02/2015When I received the battery in the mail, all that was in the box was the battery and a leaflet. There were no instruction manual and whatsoever. I put the new battery into my laptop and charged it for the whole night. In the morning, I tried to turn on my laptop but it won't turn on. The battery light just keeps on blinking. I have to replace it with my old battery in order for me to use my laptop again. Then, I called Rakuten and requested a replacement battery. I sent their battery back to them with no charge for shipping. 2 weeks later, I received the new replacement battery. This time it has an instruction manual and a cd to install the program. I was able to copy the program into my laptop, but when I open it to try to install it, it won't install. The manual instructed me to click the "Accept Agreement" box and "File Mode" box on the pop up dialogue box. Unfortunately, there is no "Accept Agreement" box or "File Mode" box to click on. I called Rakuten again, but they were unable to help me with the technical issues. They just said I have to talk to the manufacturer. All they could do was send me another replacement battery or issue me a refund. This time, I wanted a refund. I have had enough of this drama.

NOT WORKING

Warning - bios update needed + working OEM battery

Posted by: randomfella from on 11/08/2010Quick summary - to use this battery you must update your BIOS with the included CD. The instructions in the box are in broken english and are tough to decipher. The PDF instructions on the CD are a little better but still not written that clearly. Like all non OEM batteries - your Sony laptop will not charge the battery or boot with the charger plugged in. The battery light will flash and you won't be able to turn your CPU on. To remedy that you will need to update the BIOS with the included CD. Here's the biggest catch - to update the BIOS - you need to have a working OEM battery charged to 30% or greater AND the charger hooked up. This is more a fault of the Sony stock BIOS - but since I was replacing a completely dead battery I was unable to use this product aside from the 60% charge that it came with. Thought I could save a hundred dollars but it looks like my only choice is a tough to find official Sony battery. In conclusion, if you don't have a working official battery then stay away from this product.
