Ok Laptop

Freezes before it can start

Now every time I try starting it, it either loads for ever never going to the next screen. Or it freezes just as its logging into a user. At 4 months old this is pretty (c r a p p y)

Satisfactory for Expectation

Posted by: Maddie from on 04/27/2015This computer is a bit on the heavy side, but after all, it is a 15.6'' screen. I haven't had any problems with it so far and have had it for three months. The touchscreen and flexibility of the hinges work perfectly. The keyboard is well placed, and I find it's easier to type than other keyboards, though it does take some getting used to. Sometimes after using the touchscreen the mouse pointer will disappear from the screen, and even after rubbing the touchpad madly it won't come back for a few seconds. A minor annoyance I'm willing to tolerate in comparison to the other great qualities of this computer. My only major complaint is the battery life. Consistently using the Internet, watching videos, or typing documents, the battery only lasts about 3-4 hours. Inserting a DVD and watching a movie, that decreases to about 2-3 hours. However, it charges quickly, so if you take it places just bring the charging cord with you and you won't have problems. Also, the fan is quiet. That's a plus. My old Toshiba sounds like a jet engine when the fan is running.

Not up to Lenovo's standards

Posted by: quiltfanatic from Calif on 02/25/2015When you flip it to flex screen mode it makes creaky noises (plastic popping) and you think it's going to break or crack on you. It is at this point where some have stated they ran into trouble. I hope I won't regret it after reading that people are having issues with it due to flexing it and losing functionality. I have only flipped it into that mode a few times and it worked fine for me so far. The keyboard is Chiclet (my favorite) but It feels mushy and hesitant. The keyboard platform actually gives with pressure. I type a 100 words plus per minute so a good solid keyboard is critical to me. The mouse pad is skittish but I slowed it down to slowest speed and that helped to rein it in somewhat. It also came bundled with a lot of crapware and even Superfish which I got rid of right away. I almost took it back to exchange for something better but it has so many features I really needed including the dvdR player, which is hard to find these days . It does not come with a backlit keyboard which would have been nice. What is good about this laptop? All the other features. The screen is nice. Videos view well on it. The volume range is excellent, better than any laptop I've had so far. There are plenty of ports for all your plug ins. The processor is quick and responsive. The basics are there and it performs well. The touch screen is fantastic. Quick, always on and I find I use it a lot. It's easier to use your finger than try to control the skittish cursor sometimes. The laptop is fairly light which makes it pretty comfortable to transport . Why did I buy this laptop? I have another Lenovo V570 which is metal and such a fantastic quality laptop that I chose to go with Lenovo again. However, this was an 'online' sale only and I had to buy it sight unseen. I will never do that again. I should have been able to try it out at the store, heard the creaking noises and experienced the mousepad and keyboard before buying it. I hope I haven't made a mistake by not taking this back when I had the chance. I am surprised that Lenovo produced a less than superior product like this since I had such a wonderful experience with my first Lenovo which is solid, perfect in every way and metal. The V570 does not make popping cracking noises like this iteration does. I would recommend Lenovo products to anybody and I do because I know how superior their products can be, but I cannot recommend this particular PC to anybody. Not yet. I want to see how well it performs over the long run first. I really want to like this laptop and took a risk by keeping it. Maybe I will be pleasantly surprised. I will follow up with my review in a few months after I put it through it's paces. I hope I won't have to return it for repairs like other's whose reviews I have read at various websites.
