CPU Workload
The CPU workload was designed to simulate users performing "production"
runs of CPU-intensive applications. Because we are modeling a production
workload, we introduce no dependencies between jobs in a single workload;
all jobs can be run in parallel. Each user runs only one application in
each workload, but the application is executed numerous times with
different parameters. Each workload was designed to run for between 8 and
12 minutes on a single processor Sparc Station 20.
The simulated users ran the following programs the number of times
indicated. The first fourteen applications are taken from the specFP-92
suite (some modified slightly to accomodate different parameters and
workload sizes).
- spice: (2 runs)
- su2cor: (3 runs)
- mdljsp2: (5 runs)
- mdljdp2: (3 runs)
