The American luxury car momentum that Cadillac carries as its 21st-century birthright shows zero signs of slowing down during the 2014 model year.

Still basking in the glow of the bases-loaded home run provided by last year's Cadillac ATS sedan, the company follows in 2014 with an all-new CTS sedan that's destined for battle against the BMW 5 Series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class and Audi A6. Not all-new, but still no strangers to attention, the CTS coupe and wagon -- including the 556-horsepower CTS-V sedan/coupe/wagon models -- carry over for one more year. Alongside the fun-size ATS, midsize CTS and full-size XTS Cadillac sedans comes the 5-door Cadillac ELR, a plug-in hybrid based on the Chevrolet Volt.

Certainly, there's no shortage of smart money betting on the Cadillac wreath and crest as it lays elegant siege to the best in new-car luxury that Europe and Japan can create. That confidence extends to the SUV side of the Cadillac product ledger. That's where the SRX midsize crossover SUV resides and the always famous -- and sometimes infamous -- Cadillac Escalade body-on-frame luxury beast holds court until it is replaced by an all-new model in 2015.
