I am not really sure how I got into this hobby. It might have something to do that most of the people I work with in the Computer Systems Lab play hockey themselves. I started going to my first game a while ago and tasted blood. Hockey rocks! There is no doubt about it. I always was a very good skater but now being in this hockey fever I couldn't resist of buying myself a brand new pair of Bauer 5000 Supreme Composite hockey skates. Have a look at them. There is nothing better than my Bauer 5000s. I personally like college hockey a bit better than pro hockey but when it comes to pick a team that I am in favor of it would be the Pittsburgh Penguins. I guess there is no doubt of what college hockey team I support. GO BADGERS! I try to go to as many Badger hockey games as I possibly can.
This isn't hard to guess, right? Badger sports all the way! Our school has an incredible athletic department. I don't even want to mention all teams that we have since it just never ends. I personally took part in UW Athletics when I joined and made the freshman rowing crew team. I was already a junior and after spending a semester on the team I just could not afford to spend four hours on the crew team every day with a triple major. I will never forget though what it feels like to sit in a shell with 8 other guys and fly over the water at an incredible speed in the dawn of morning. Nobody who has never been in a shell himself can even imagine what it feels like. With Chris Clark I think we had an incredible coach and if one could have bought time I would have spent all my money on time to be able to stay in the rowing crew. I sometimes get up around 5:30am and walk to the lake just to watch the guys practice (the gals as well, of course).
I would probably spend days if I would write down everything I want to say about Badger sports. Instead, I will keep this short. There is a kick butt web page on the net that is also my personal favorite. The URL is http://www.wisc.edu/ath and one can find everything that one needs to know about the Badgers there. In fact, I am part of the developement team for those pages. I have an awesome time hanging out with the guys from the web team in Camp Randall. We are a great team and I think the quality of our pages also represents this fact.
Being born in Germany has a big advantage. I was able to see a lot of different countries. Here is a list of where I have been so far. I am definitely planning on gettting this list longer and longer:Besides traveling I also like to learn and speak foreign languages. I am fluent in German and English and know enough French to hold a decent conversation. Here in Madison, Wisconsin, I used to live in the French House for two years. In this house one can only speak French when communicating with other residents.

In my second semester here at the University of Wisconsin I started to hear about fraternities. Being new in this country and new to this environment I didn't really have a clue as of what fraternities were. Once I found out I decided to rush. I started rushing with a good friend of mine. We intended to rush several houses but stopped right at the first one. Delta Upsilon. I had a great time in the house. After rushing and getting my bid I was a pledge for about half a semester when I found out that I scheduled a little bit too much during that semester. I had to drop some of my recreational activities and leaving Delta Upsilon was probably the biggest mistake I ever made on this campus. After staying out of the Greek system for quite a while I decided to do it again. I was seriously thinking of rushing Delta Upsilon again but when I found out that half of my pledge class already graduated and I hardly knew anybody in the house I started looking for other houses. At around the same time I got a call from a friend of mine who used to live in the French House with me. I mentioned to him way back that I was interested in going Greek again and he invited me over to his house. When I entered the house of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity I knew I was in the right place. I got along with everybody right away and got my bid and now I am again Greek - A DTD as you can call me.
Besides being active in my social fraternity I am also a memeber of Alpha Kappa Psi, a professional business fraternity. In fact, I was president for the fall semester of 1996 of this fraternity. It differs from a social fraternity in that we don't have a house and that we are a co-ed group. Since we are new on campus I hope that we will develop into a big group of creative and active people. Things seemed to go very slow at the beginning but they are speeding up now.
I dissed her just recently and I think I will put a form here so new girls can apply...
