The high concept breeds lowbrow gags.
Bilge Ebiri
Does Eddie Murphy actually have any range, or is it just an illusion created by a few early edgy roles and, later, a lot of CGI makeup and fat suits?
Frank Scheck
Eddie Murphy should have just said the word "No" to this tired, formulaic comedy.
Owen Gleiberman
It makes you want to see Murphy team up with Judd Apatow, or even take on a dead-serious dramatic role - do anything but star in another movie like this one.
William Goss
Follows directly in the footsteps of Bruce Almighty, Click, Liar Liar, Groundhog Day and any other post-Freaky Friday high-concept redemption story that inevitably crossed Tim Allen and Adam Sandler's desks at some point.
Stephen Whitty
What you don't have is a funny movie.

The idea of taking one of Hollywood's best-known motor-mouths and reducing him to mugging and charades is definitely novel - and utterly misguided.

Great movie for Inspiration & a wake up call to some Regardless of what the other nay sayers tout in their reviews this is a great movie which relays a simple yet powerful message to one of life's important lessons. If you are a fan of movies like Bruce Almighty and Evan Almighty you will appreciate this movie for what it has to offer. To the reviewers who felt Eddie Murphy was reduced, and not worthy of this movie. I believe he did a great job in being funny while keeping his mouth shut. Stay positive people. Life's too short.
Stole my money I paid for this movie downloaded and still couldn't watch it. Then it gave me 30 days but by the fourth day it was down to one day and I still have not seen it yet.
Not Very Good I love Eddie Murphy, but this was not one of his better films. I was expecting to laugh and maybe did once. It had a good message at the end, but it was all around just a boring movie! I wouldn't recommend it to people or watch it again.
Not a must, still great all the same Clark Duke is a hilarious actor. I really enjoyed the movie, the message got across, and Eddie Murphy was great. Wasn't a waste of money..
I like It's a nice movie I actually liked this one from Eddie its been a long time since I liked what he put out
Seriously Im about to watch this, but as i agree with #1s opinion of Murphys pigeon hole, i think fans know that he is who he is, and perhaps enjoy a lottle stability over the years from raw to delierious that i listened to with my first girlfriend @ the age of 16 in her moms convertable caddy lmao @ a drive in (xo beckles) my point is chill! Sincerly jeff 'lovits'
A feeble attempt that shouldn't have been IMO, this was just a horrible movie. Its just more of the same Eddie Murphy. I think his refusal to change over the years has really hurt his fan base. I have absolutely no desire to watch this movie again.
