Liam Lacey
The acting throughout falls into two registers; pantomime mugging for most of the cast, while the romantic leads, Russell and Feild, look so ill at ease that you pity them.
Linda Barnard
Austenland is modest fun but needs to show it has a brain under its sun bonnet.
Rafer Guzman
"Austenland" understands Austen's enduring romantic appeal but has no use for her deeper themes of class, wealth and gender inequality.
Adam Graham
It's tentative in its intentions and afraid to push all the way with its premise. It is not sharp enough as a comedy, and when it tries to shift gears and become a romance, it is unconvincing in...
Gail Pennington
A mildly surprising and completely heartwarming ending casts a glow over the previous 96 minutes of "Austenland" but can't wipe out all regrets for what might have been.
Anthony Lane
Everything rings false, and the spectacle of bad actors pretending to be bad actors may trouble your sleep for some time.

Prototypical RomCom I had no grandeur expectations when I rented this movie. I wanted something cute, lighthearted, funny and cheesy romantic. Did it deliver? You betcha! Jennifer Coolidge's character was the typical ignoramus American and Keri Russell's the prototypical romantic lead. Did it bother me? Heck no! It worked well with the dynamics of the movie. This isn't going to win any awards or anything as such but it is just the right film to watch when you just want the perfect rom-com. I give it 4 stars because of the oh so cliche twist (that I saw coming in the first 10 minutes) but other than that it delivered what I wanted. Again, if you're looking for something lighthearted and cheesy romantic, this is it. If not, don't bother.

The movie itself was great! What I expected. A light hearted romantic comedy. The ending could've been better fleshed out but it was good. What wasnt great was playback of the video. Watched it first on my Samsung Galaxy 3 tablet and the video stopped playing every 10-12 mins and would start from the beginning. I would have to manually search back to my previous place. I then tried to watch it on tv and the picture kept switching back and forth between a clear picture and what I call a bootleg, blurry version of the film. Bummer.

Loved it My wife saw this movie with her friends and then we went together and saw it. She usually doesn't like to watch movies after she has seen them, but I can understand why she loves Austenland. I really like Austenland too. I think that it's perfectly casted and performed. It's a rare RomCom that I can get behind, but Austenland is that rare gem.

A Pleasant Surprise! 😚 I love Jane Austen's books and I've seen several adaptation movies of each of them too. I have to say, I really enjoyed this film immensely. It was very funny and witty in a "Austen" sort of way. I truly loved it, so much so I'm going to add it to my Blu-Ray collection of movies.

Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly, who last teamed in the box-office smash Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, now star in Step Brothers, directed by Adam McKay (Talladega Nights). In Step Brothers, Ferrell plays Brennan Huff, a sporadically employed thirty-nine-year-old who lives with his mother, Nancy (Mary Steenburgen). Reilly plays Dale Doback, a terminally unemployed forty-year-old who lives with his father, Robert (Richard Jenkins). When Robert and Nancy marry and move in together, Brennan and Dale are forced to live with each other as step brothers. As their narcissism and downright aggressive laziness threaten to tear the family apart, these two middle-aged, immature, overgrown boys will orchestrate an insane, elaborate plan to bring their parents back together. To pull it off, they must form an unlikely bond that maybe, just maybe, will finally get them out of the house. (c) 2008 Columbia Pictures Industries, Inc. and Beverly Blvd LLC. All Rights Reserved.

This sinfully funny movie starring Academy Award® winner Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway is sensationally entertaining in every way. As assistant to impossibly demanding New York fashion magazine editor Miranda Priestly (Streep), young Andy Sachs (Hathaway) has landed a job that "a million girls would die for." Unfortunately, her heaven-sent appointment as Miranda's personal whipping girl just might be the death of her! The Devil Wears Prada is based on the internationally best-selling novel by Lauren Weisberger, which spent six months on the New York Times bestseller list and was translated into 27 languages.
