The narrative would be ho-hum without the spectacle. But what spectacle! Avatar is dizzying, enveloping, vertiginous ... I ran out of adjectives an hour into its 161 minutes.
A.O. Scott
I had the feeling coming out of this movie that I haven't felt since maybe I was eleven years old in 1977 and I saw Star Wars for the first time.
Stephanie Zacharek
It's a remote-control movie experience, a high-tech "wish you were here" scribbled on a very expensive postcard.
Amy Biancolli
The most-hyped movie of the year just about merits it.
Rick Groen
Big money, big risk, pretty big reward. That's been his consistent pattern, and it's high time to give credit where credit is overdue: James Cameron delivers.
Tom Long
I have seen the future of movies, and it is Avatar.

Cameron and his legion of CGI experts and skilled craftspeople have delivered a lovely, misty, dangerous world.

I have the 3D blu-ray and... it is, BY FAR, the most amazing 3D movie ever made, to date. This movie on a 55" Samsung C9000 (consensus best 3D/HD LCD/LED TV of 2010) is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!! Rent it or buy it, you will NOT regret it. This is a 10* movie!!! @Dan Garcia and all 1*'s: You are absolute idiots and wouldn't know an EPIC FILM if it .smacked you in the face! SMH!!! Also, YOU HAVE TO HAVE A PHONE WITH AN HD SCREEN (which means AT LEAST 720P) TO WATCH THIS MOVIE IN HD ON YOUR PHONE. L2think!!!!

Soooo awsome! I have to say....every movie I watch I love. But this one?!! It's more than love. When Jake looks around the forest in alien form it was beatiful. They took a hard time making this.I respect it the fullest since I watch it every day and night.I always start it over because my cousins jump in bed and watch intill they fall asleep.

Avatar is one of my all time favorite movies This movie really show what the European people have been doing all over the earth to people of color and people of the land. The european have destroyed wood land, forest, and whole communities for his own greed and pleasure. Yes I know some of you may say what I'm saying is racist but history will show that it's not that what I'm saying is fact! This movie is great. It also show how the european and his armys go into a place that is not theirs and take what does not belong to them and inslave the people also labeling them as savages not worthy to live according to way of live. Take a deeper look and go back in history and you will see it, you will see how the Europeans use their technology and machine to kill peace loving people, how they come in and try to enforce their ways on the peace loving people and if the peace loving people don't bow down then the european call them names and then set out to kill the land and people living on it. This movie also show how the people are connect to the land and all living things around them, how they and nature are one I also think if the writers would've made the avatar African, Native or any indigenous being, people would've walked ou

Jon Applegarth Some bad acting, some bad script, cheesy character devices, designed with more political leanings than human reality. But overall pretty entertaining because of the Really cool plot ideas (Minus the whole, "Dances With Wolves" component) coupled with fantastical digital animation., that was awe inspiring. The story was compelling as long as you could suspend disbelief over the bad character development.

Ummmmn Pretty terrible, special effects were cool but that's it, to control beasts u have to violate it with your hair tentacle? That's really really weird and the concept to me was off and very stupid, plus cheesy military general goes crazy with power for a villain I mean really every movies going that way now I guess... James Cameron isn't creative the ideas in this movie are weird and twisted....,2 *
Awesome graphics! A story well put together. This movie touches the heart. A must see movie that will blow your mind. James Cameron what can I say first time I see Avatar this movie just amazing. Five stars! Please this movie deserve 10 stars! Please one more Avatar. The end of the movie just tells me another AVATAR is coming.

LOVE THIS MOVIE... but not for kids! Avatar is an intense Sci-Fri Thriller and I love every second of it!! It is soo good and I love the Navi! However i would not recommend showing it to young kids as it is intense in parts and there are quite a few curse words! But overall a wonderfully well made film! I've seen it 7 times!!!
Immersive Action Adventure! James Cameron's critically acclaimed Avatar is a spectacle to behold, a visually stunning and immersible adventure that takes some of the best (albeit used) plots together to create a thoroughly entertaining blockbuster of a movie. I would recommend this one for your library, at a minimum, to test your HD setup :). and Another good summary title would be ... Dances with Wolves in Space +$1,000,000,000 in special effects added. :)

I was insulted I have always been a big fan of James Cameron movies, from the abyss, terminator, through true lies and titanic. He just mailed it in when it came to this one. All his previous movies had good interesting characters and story lines, this movie lacks on both aspects. Special effects are very nice, but that is where it ends. Predictable, uncreative and flat are the best comments that I can say about this movie.
