With strictly tele-standard acting, straightforward space opera plot, grandiose sentiment and slushy love interest, it's really only meat for genre fans.

Tyson's drinkin' again! Hey kid, I saw the FIRST Star Wars in the theater in July 1977 and then all that summer. I then gleefully awaited this TV series when it debuted on ABC the following year. It wasn't cheesy or hokey as a teenager when it first came out. The FX were for a TV budget and I accepted that. But it was great having a decent Sci Fi show with decent FX in that era. And it's fun to look back at now. Can't wait to show my boys.

BSG the Original Series I don't think I ever missed an episode as a kid. Our whole family watched BSG together and ENJOYED IT. I wished Lorne Greene was My Grandfather. My first real "heartbreak": Apollo's poignant loss of his wife.... "and we'll have an eternity, too" Not a dry eye in the house. Funny: the other day, I heard a segment of Stuart Phillips' score on Songza. Recognized it instantly. I must have worn out my vinyl LP listening and absorbing every note. An inspiring musical score was a first for TV shows back in the day

The REAL Battlestar Galactica This is the original, and the best, Battlestar Galactica. By today's standards the special effects can look a little cheesy, but for the late 1970s they were state-of-the-art. This original version is true science-fiction with great actors and acting, unlike the new series which is nothing more than a soap opera that just happens to be set in space.

Amazing CLASSIC Sci Fi I loved this series. I'm not old enough to have seen it when it aired but I saw it on tape over and over again (wore the tapes out). The new one is good, but the classic is my favorite no matter how cheesy. I'll edit my review as it seemed to have caused some people problems. It was a late night review and I was under the impression it was released in the early 70's. I stand corrected by both Google Play at the top and by the reviews above me. Still doesn't change the fact this is a great show.

I think its best but that's just my opinion I grew up watching this show from day one and this show helped a lot of people with their ideas of space travel and science fiction and opened a lot more minds to anything is possible. And like the TV show Big Bang Theory this is a show for Geeks and Nerds, if you don't have an open mind about space travel and science fiction this is not a show for you.

Classic Brings back memories, the pilot movie before the TV series started. Great stuff until they started making battlestar galactica 1980...
Coolness This series is pretty good. I am way to young to have seen it when it originally aired, but I heard my parents talk about it, so I thought I'd give it a try. And for Tyson, Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope was released in 1977. Battlestar Galactica aired the next year. I'm not saying that this is a knock-off. I'm just stating a fact.
Great memories! I could not Wait to watch this show as a kid. This movie is one of my favs. I had the bed sheets and all. Apollo and Starbuck were my icons.
Original battlestar galactica It was one of my favotites back in the late 70's but the New 21st century far superior story special effects pretty much everything.
Crappy series Crappy series. Don't waste your time on this. The reboot is much better.
