Beautiful Creatures is like the Twilight movies but with a chaperone making sure the boys dance a foot apart from the girls.
Richard Roeper
'Beautiful Creatures' is stylish, campy fun at times.
Joe Morgenstern
The movie is claimed ... by narrative incoherence, Tim Burton-envy and the usual demons of digital effects.
Joel Arnold
This surprisingly beguiling attempt to blend fantasy, coming-of-age drama, melodrama, camp and social critique isn't always successful - but it's nearly always entertaining.
Peter Rainer
A dash -- only a dash -- of Tim Burton ghoulishness might have helped.
J. R. Jones
This fantasy about witches and warlocks walking among us was clearly produced for the Twilight crowd, but a witty script and the enjoyably hammy performances from Emma Thompson and Jeremy Irons broaden its appeal.

Beautiful Creatures rests entirely upon the shoulders of leads. And in that sense, it completely works.

This is sad... Ok, not that I want to sound like everyone else, but I LOVED the books. Memorised them. And this is how they pay tribute to an amazing book by amazing authors. I tried my best to watch the movie, but it strayed so much from the actual storyline, I had no idea what was happening. The casting was pretty horrible. Don't waste your time.

It was good but no It was a good movie and I was in love with it until I read the book. This movie is NOTHING like the book. The story line and even the characters are nothing like the book. The book is 100 times better than the movie. The movie alone is good but if you read the book then watched the movie ... I am sorry but it will disappoint.

Disapionting The books were sooo good but the movie not so good. I mean I liked it and I want them too make all of the books into movies but really I think they rushed through it. For example they left out a lot of characters, hired bad actors that didn't match the characters in the book exept for ethan, lena, the dog, sarafine and macon the rest were bad especialy ridly she didn't look any thing like she did in the book. They also left out a buntch of things and just didn't fallow the srory line. DISAPIONTING
Great Movie...Great Ending I'm not much of a love story kind of guy but this was a great movie. The love story between the two main characters was believable. It also shows the small-mindedness and prejudices that can occur in small towns. There was plenty of action and some surprising twists. Being an action/adventure movie buff, I found quite enough action to keep the story together. I really loved the ending! Totally unexpected!

Beautiful beautiful creatures is an amazing movie have the right amount of drama action and it was so amazing it was almost like a love story I started to tear up near the end and the part when it started to snow what the actors and actresses where mazing I loved it sooo much I swear I've watched it over 10 times great movie you should watch it

Melodrama, cheesy effects Haven't seen the movie but if it's targeting the Twilighters and is anything like the preview I'm not going to. People here are praising the effects... really? The storyline looks like crap (girl destined to gain dark powers, it's within her to control them but her intense love for a so-called mortal complicates things) and the characters are self indulgent, self pitying and egocentric. I'm surprised they got Jeremy Irons and Emma Thompson! Perhaps I'll go with the general consensus and read the book.

Good movie..... The movie is good, but it also was a complete let-down to see the excellent books and watch this. The movie was good don't get me wrong but, the books were excellent they changed a lot, and makes me wonder did the director read the books........or just hear about It. And I doubt there having a sequel since how horrible they did at the box-office & since the ending the changed which will effect the second movie, but still just reads the books they won't make you mad like this movie may or not have done.
Skip the movie... read the book instead I absolutely love the books, but the writers of the movie completely butchered the book. Some of the most important details of the book were completely left out and thecwhole thing went so quickly that had I not read the book, I would not have known what was going on. Skip the movie and read the book instead. The book is beautifully written, while the movie is a total flop.
Quite insinuating The books were mal written and had no detail whatsoever; they dragged on to a point where you just wanted to throw the book into an incinerator. The movie was fine, and the concepts were great, but overall everything was badly produced. Try out City of Bones though, you may enjoy that series and the movie is coming out soon.

Awful I saw this in theaters after I read the first book. I was so excited thinking it was gonna be another Twilight Saga and then im sitting there and it is absolutely NOTHING like the book. They cut out characters, changed most of the plot, cut out key points in the story, and I hated it. Piece of advice, if youve read the book dont watch this movie and if you see the movie and not read the books keep it that way b/c youll like the movie up until the point you read the first fifty pages of the book.

The Tree of Life is the impressionistic story of a Midwestern family in the 1950's. The film follows the life journey of the eldest son, Jack, through the innocence of childhood to his disillusioned adult years as he tries to reconcile a complicated relationship with his father (Brad Pitt). Jack (played as an adult by Sean Penn) finds himself a lost soul in the modern world, seeking answers to the origins and meaning of life while questioning the existence of faith.
