This is a universal X-ray of bourgeois love, one that in a few decades will get around to something like Amour.
Dave Calhoun
Hawke and Delpy remain as charming as ever, and their combined goofiness is more endearing than annoying.
Tom Long
Love is messy here, life cannot be controlled, satisfaction is far from guaranteed. Romance is rocky at best. But romance still is.
Moira MacDonald
Though "Before Midnight" is often uncomfortable to watch, it's never less than mesmerizing - and ultimately, a joy to walk with this prickly but fascinating couple again.
Rafer Guzman
"Before Midnight" is heartbreaking, but not because of Jesse and Celine. It's the filmmakers' passions that seem to have cooled.
Mick LaSalle
Before Midnight is fascinating to watch, and so long as Celine and Jesse are communicating, there's still hope.

How (Jesse and Celine) try to rekindle that flame is what drives Midnight, a film that feels so authentic it's like overhearing a conversation you're not sure you should be hearing.

To chance, love, and the real aspect of a relationship My ex from one ago got me hooked on the first movie and I thank her for it. To me this movie series is about love and chance and you can say it's a bad movie and she bitches at him entire movie but before you say it take a step back and look at your own marriages and relationships they are not always peachy king.

Best movie in a while This movie isn't for those who want sped up, fast flashes of scenes with lots of movement and action. This is a wonderful movie that makes you think about real things in life... Love, divorce, kids, money, traveling... Everything that really makes up someone's life with a loved one. It was a completely incredible movie to watch, and I can't wait to watch all 3 movies in a row. Look up the rotten tomatoes review!

Seriously? I watched this movie not having a clue that it was part of a series. It was on and I was bored. People disagree but I don't want to watch 1.5-2hr long movie about it! If I did id film my husband and I arguing! It IS a great movie for newlyweds to watch but since we've been married awhile, we know how to fight fair and like adults not 2 kids. Name calling is childish period and I found myself wanting to tell this couple to grow up more than once. Total waste of my time! Negative stars!

Instant Favorite As a huge fan of the first two in the series, I went in with extremely high expectations and was not disappointed. No, it's not as sweet as the first two films. The cracks in their relationship that we glimpsed in the predecessor become even more evident, leading into one of the most intense and heart wrenching scenes this decade. As of now, this still stands as my favorite film of the year. Make sure to watch the other films in the series before seeing this.
Best one yet! Don't know how I will wait 8 years for the next one...
