The approach is dry as the Wyoming landscape, and while it occasionally threatens to pull the film out of shape, it's still the right one for these men.
Stephen Whitty
Like all great love stories, Ang Lee's is one of tragic romance, strongly acted by Heath Ledger as the most buttoned-up of cowboys, and Michelle Williams as his betrayed and enraged wife.
Stanley Kauffmann
Ang Lee continues to astonish.
Roger Moore
Both [Gyllenhaal and Ledger] embody what that old Waylon and Willie song taught us -- 'Cowboys ain't easy to love, and they're harder to hold.'
Dave Calhoun
Lee has taken a story of gay love and placed it where it should be -- in the mainstream. He's delivered a beautifully crafted film to boot.
Ann Hornaday
A sweeping, solemn, self-serious chronicle of their relationship over several decades.

It stays with you after you've seen it, like a haunting strain of music; both love song and elegy for what might have been.

Jr. Great movie.. great acting.. great.. AWESOME.. made me cry in the end.. compelling plot and story..
What a tremendous movie One of the best movies ever made in my opinion. The bravery of the actors, producers and Ang Lee directing a movie that is mature enough to show that love is the one thing that is most important and if you don't realize that, you will very likely end up regretting it deeply. If all you can see in this cinematic masterpiece is gay cowboys and you cannot feel empathy and sorrow for the characters, regardless of sexual orientation, then I truly feel sorry for you.
Awesome movie! Just because you watch a movie about gay men doesn't make you gay. Whoever judges a person based on that is stupid. If you have something against the LGBT community, why would you watch it in the first place? If you have something bad to say, keep it to yourself. Disrespectful comments shouldn't even be welcomed. This movie was great overall! I give it two thumbs up! Love the acting portrayed and overall lovely movie

Beautiful This movie is so heartbreaking but so good! The acting is powerful, the storyline is emotional, the scenery is breathtaking, the music is beautiful. The director did a great job with this film. It seemed like a dramatic love story between two lovers and not two guys getting it on in a tent and I love that.

Excellent and quite a story! I was thoroughly surprised by how much I enjoyed this movie. I love how the story is so realistic. These men face so many hardships and I adore what that brings to the story. I only wish it wasn't so sad (then again some of the best films are) and that there were more movies like it.
Broke back Mountain I found this movie mesmerizing, compelling, an aphrodisiac(even if I am straight). This was no doubt a love story , beautifully written and portrayed.Heath and Jake were just too much. It is my favorite movie and I do not care what anybody thinks about my opinion . if you want to remain close minded so be it.
Epic This movie is worth the time and money, great story backed by great actors. Be nice if the other comments that are Homophobic be taken off!
Great! Unexpectedly great Heath Ledger delivers in one of the best movies of the last decade.
Great Film As I watched it I kept thinking why did it take me so long to finally watch this movie. It exceeded my expectations by far.
Good Yes it's gay but there is such a great story to this film. I love it.
