Synopsis

Director Tim Burton brings his unique vision and sensibility to Roald Dahl's classic children's story in this lavish screen interpretation. Willy Wonka (Johnny Depp) is the secretive and wildly imaginative man behind the world's most celebrated candy company, and while the Wonka factory is famously closed to visitors, the reclusive candy man decides to give five lucky children a chance to see the inside of his operation by placing "golden tickets" in five randomly selected chocolate bars. Charlie Bucket (Freddie Highmore), whose poor but loving family lives literally in the shadow of the Wonka factory, is lucky enough to obtain one of the tickets, and Charlie, escorted by his Grandpa Joe (David Kelly), is in for the ride of a lifetime as he tours the strange and remarkable world of Wonka with fellow winners, media-obsessed Mike Teavee (Jordan Fry), harsh and greedy Veruca Salt (Julia Winter), gluttonous Augustus Gloop (Philip Wiegratz), and ultra-competitive Violet Beauregarde (AnnaSophia Robb). Over the course of the day, some of the children will learn difficult lessons about themselves, and one will go on to become Wonka's new right hand. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory also stars Christopher Lee, James Fox, and Noah Taylor; the book was famously adapted to the screen before in 1971 under the title Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, with Gene Wilder as the eccentric candy tycoon.

Vast improvement Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory always have a place in my heart... Snause-baries taste like Snause-baries.... but this one definitely to myself is funnier than the first one.... Johnny Depp humor really please don't very well in this film... and the kid that played Charlie was so adorable an innocent and likeable... and I loved how they kept the Oompa Loompa songs but with a modern twist... but I did think it was a little funny and messed up did they used to seem the dwarf for ever Oompa Loompa role

Disappointing Things that the original Willy Wonka had that this one doesn't are songs from everyone except for the oompa loompas... Being billed as a "Comedy" it fails because it is horribly unfunny and it's not really a musical. Avoid this like the plague.

The movie is a like bad brisih satire While I am a fan of Mr. Depp and of the original movie, I found myself bewildered by the cloned oompa loompas and over used CGI. The movie came across like a warped version of Gulliver's Travels because of its British overtones and dry humor. Though, I do have to admit that plot twist at the end was a good fit for this rendition.

A great telling of the story many don't know For those expecting a rehash of the Gene Wilder part, this is definitely not it. This is what I believe Roald Dahl intended. Unlike the Broadway musical treatment of the book in the other movie, this is subtle, nuanced, and frankly darker in its tone and humor. You still see how Charlie and his family change as is to be expected; but here you see how Willy Wonka himself changes AND changed. In the end, this is my favorite of the two. I still enjoy watching the other from time to time, but this won me over.

Charlie And The Chocolate Factory 2005 Is much better than the 1970's Version, They made everything exactly straight from the book, The oompa loompas look exactly like the ones from the book, They used Squirrels Instead of gooses, And they Used a nice and fun boat ride instead of some insane, scary boat ride that shows a chicken getting its head cut off. THIS VERSION IS MUCH MUCH BETTER than the original.

Bizarre but not as CREEPY as the orihinal Johnny Depp is a great actor for odd r oles such as this. I watched with my children and it was enjoyable though a tad bizarre. I watched the Gene Wilder version about 6 weeks later on TV. My kids actually found it creepy and said that the man looked as if he were not being funny but actually trying to hide his true self in that movie. They said if the met Mr Wilder on the street they would cross to th e's other side. I never noticed it as a child but some of the things in the old version were truly creepy.

A real dahl story To be honest this is ( in my opinion) better than the original it's got actors I believe that there the characters, I love the visuals, the humor, the songs, and I like the story if dahl was still alive when this came out he would love it, it almost looks like his book since the original cut half of the story out in the movie and replace it with stuff that remove what the story was I'm not sure how many changes they made here but im sure there not as big as compare to the 1971 version.

I hated it. If you want the true delicious taste of the Wonka delight, look no further than the original. This one is pure garbage. I love Johnny Depp but this movie was awful.
