Chef is compelling, somewhat convincing and, according to many who know better than I, it's largely on trend.
Linda Barnard
Favreau has assembled a terrific cast for a road trip that is joyous and revelatory, all set to a great soundtrack ...
Colin Covert
It's a refreshing change of pace from typical summer fare, a story not framed around the skeleton of an old TV series or designed as a tie-in to Hasbro toys.
Moira MacDonald
If "Chef" were a musical, you'd walk out humming the food - and you might end up doing that anyway.
Ben Sachs
Chef is so thin and bland it doesn't even inspire contempt.
Joe Williams
Best of all is Favreau. Instead of mass-producing another superhero epic, he has given the overfed public a dish of right-sized comfort food. Whatever he cooks up in the future, it will be hard to top "Chef."

Jon Favreau's bouncy paean to the culinary arts wins you over in a stridently upbeat, crowd-pleasing way ...

Great Movie In the age of money grab movies, its refreshing to see an original, well thought out movie. (Wink) This must help develop the covert cover personas for the Avengers heroes. This is also the second movie that I 've seen recently with Sofia Vergara in it that was a great movie. Jon F. is a great writer/director/actor. Restored my faith in Hollywood that someone can come up with something other than a DC/Marvel/Star [insert space fantasy franchise]/over CGI'd death/mayhem/distruction action movie. This is a movie that a couple can watch and laugh together.
This movie is just Fantastic! To anyone that reads this, you'll enjoy this movie. You will laugh to it. You'll dance and sing to the music that was so expertly chosen. The cast was so unbelievable in this, they look like they're having fun making this movie. You will not be disappointed if you watch this movie. In fact this is not a rental. This is a film you buy. And enjoy over and over again.

So good Like little miss sunshine without the downer angst. This movie nails passion and fatherhood and makes you smile. While it never waivers from its "we all know this is going to turn out perfectly" stand, it's honest and tells it like you want it - and like we all deserve it. Thanks Mr. Favreau, for two hours really well spent.

The neighbors' relentless sabotage escalates into outrageous one-upmanship, beginning an epic Greek war for the ages. Also stars Dave Franco and Christopher Mintz-Plasse.

Jason Bateman makes his feature directorial debut with the subversive comedy, Bad Words. Bateman stars as Guy Trilby, a 40-year-old who finds a loophole in the rules of The Golden Quill national spelling bee and decides to cause trouble by hijacking the competition. Contest officials, outraged parents, and overly ambitious 8th graders are no match for Guy, as he ruthlessly crushes their dreams of victory and fame. As a reporter (Kathryn Hahn) attempts to discover his true motivation, Guy finds himself forging an unlikely alliance with a competitor: awkward 10-year-old Chaitanya (Rohan Chand), who is completely unfazed by Guy's take-no-prisoners approach to life. Critics rave, Bad Words is "the funniest, smartest, most entertaining comedy in a long time!" (Pete Hammond, Movieline)
