Edwin Schallert
It can be classified as, in a number of aspects, one of the most arresting pictures ever produced.
Richard Brody
An ecstasy of light and shadow, of clashing textures and graphic forms, such as hadn't been seen since the silent era.
Ben Walters
Many of the novel techniques Welles developed with cinematographer Gregg Toland were calculated to offer new angles on film space.
It is a work of art created by grown people for grown people.
John C. Flinn Sr.
Welles has found the screen as effective for his unique showmanship as radio and the theatre.
Dave Kehr
It is still the best place I know of to start thinking about Welles -- or for that matter about movies in general.

The Emperor Has No Clothes This film is widely regarded as the greatest film ever made by a varied list of highly acclaimed film critics and experts. This belief carries over to low intelligence film school students, self described movie buffs, movie geeks, and many other bleating sheep who believe they must parrot what they've heard from wise men who have expounded endlessly on the beauty of the emperor's new clothes, or else they will be considered a dullard or worse, someone who doesn't 'get it'. But the blowhards, the bleating

A classic for many reasons Welles took a huge gamble making Citizen Kane the way he did. He largely discarded many of the Hollywood rules, both artistic and technical. The result was a movie unlike any other--actors deliberately walking on each other's lines, the camera looking at things in ways it just wasn't supposed to. In the end, Welles re-wrote the very rules he'd ignored. But the film also remains a classic for another, much simpler reason: it's hugely entertaining.

Believe the hype This is, at the very least, the greatest American film ever. The script is full of poignancy and insight, the direction is daring even 70 years later, and the acting, especially Welles, is so magnetic you'll be incapable of turning away. The late Roger Ebert said this is the film he hopes they play on loop in heaven, and I couldn't agree more. Like a great work of literature, it is rich enough to offer up new joys to you each time you view it.
Do not trust the media Citizen Kane has a "reputation" of being the greatest movie ever made. This is a lie created by fellow film fans to create the greatest inside joke in the industry. This movie is actually one of the worst movies ever made. I have vowed to let the world know the truth. Do not believe the lies.
There is man a certain man... This film is indeed the greatest every made. While others may be more fun to watch, this one is absolute brilliance. The camera often tells more about the story than the plot itself. The acting is superb. The Bernard Herrman score is revolutionary. This film along with Vertigo,8 1/2, and Taxi Driver are the only films I'd call flawless. It absolutely must be experienced!
Possibly the best movie ever made . . . This is a magnificent job of story telling. It does not rely on stunts or CGA to get the job done, it only uses the genius of Orson Wells. The strongest part is the representation of totally differing views of Kane.
My Favorite Film I Like It Because Of Orson Welles Direction, The Screenplay By Orson Welles And Herman J. Mankiewicz, Gregg Toland's Cinematography, Bernard Herrmann's Score And The Editing.
Yes, it really is that good. This is one of the best movies ever made. It portrays the life of a man with a distinct view point on the good and bad effects of choices.
