Rent the original instead.

The 2011 version of Conan the Barbarian looks cheap and feels rushed. The few good elements are dwarfed by a generic, nonsensical plot and shoddy storytelling.
Laremy Legel
Shoddy acting, no real plot, and silly dialogue? You betcha!
Stephen Whitty
Does it satisfy, this tale? In its own modest way, it does.
Rick Groen
It ain't a pretty sight -- in fact, it's downright barbaric.
Joe Neumaier
It's just another ham-handed adventure flick in eye-deadening, wallet-draining 3-D.

It sucked Jason Momoa has the look and fights well, but the storytelling, directing, the script and the editing are flatout terrible. Jason's lines could fit on two sheets of paper. Huge gaps exist in the story and Conan as a kid is more interesting than Conan as an adult. This is no where near as good as the original. Dump the rest of the cast (they all sucked) make a proper film with Momoa, a better director and a better script. 2* because Momoa has the potential to be a great Conan.
Wow! Really?! I've always found the original Conan movies to be of the B caliber and the latest one follows in their footsteps. But where Arnold's Conans were fun because of their campiness, this just left me relieved that I only paid 99 cents to watch (I should have checked Netflix for this one). Maybe I've read too many Conan stories or seen too many epic sword and sorcerer movies but this movie fell short in so many ways. The utmost failure is to capitalize on the fact that Conan was a legendary thief and next to his bedding of women, it was his sole pursuit and often the motivating factor in his adventures. This story paints Conan as the typical indomitable, vengeful warrior regaining the honor of his father's untimely death. The characters, including Conan, have the depth of a kiddie pool which can work if you have a half decent story line (Avatar) but they just don't hold much water and they're just as clear to see through. This is a lack-luster movie with a worse ending. Crush your enemies, see them driven before you and hear the lamentations of their women.
Robert E. Howard would be... ASHAMED! Since others here have mentioned the Arnold films I'll touch on his before finally reviewing the pale of dung being discussed today. Best thing about Arnold's 1st: the Atlantean sword! The worst? Milius dared have Conan suck on Black Lotus leaves, SOMETHING THE CIMMERIAN WOULD NEVER DO! As to this new abomination... the lead had all the acting prowess of a WWE wrestler! Visuals felt & dialog sounded 21st century and the inclusion of a former, "Charmed One" made it all the more corny! Grade it an F-
Conan This movie was action packed and exciting, the hero was gorgeous good eye candy and the villians were scary. I loved it!
Exactly what it's supposed to be Like the Conan books of old, this movie is as close as it gets to the brutal simplicity of the Barbarian Warrior: fun, mindless action fantasy.
Three words Conan. He's hot. No, it was good though. Storyline is similar to others is reason I rated it 4 stars.
Mediocre at best This movie doesn't hold a candle to the 1982 Schwarzenegger classic. Bad acting, terrible CG effects, and even worse dialogue. There's some ok battles, Jason Momoa tries hard, and Rachel Nichols is a babe but its mediocre at best. Barely worth a rental.
Love the movie Friggin love the movie... but the 99¢ rental was bull s. It still charged me 4.99 for HD...
Lame Lame story, the best part was when he told the girl to shut up and stuffed her mouth with cloth
following in the steps of R.E.H. by Crom... This movie is easy to enjoy if your a fan of the black and white graphic novels adapted by Marvel of our swash-buckling barbarian; a fair and accurate translation of the graphic novel to the big-screen. Conan has never had much dialogue even in the comic. Most of the dialog was supporting characters and narrator blocks. Conan has always let his sword do his talking for him, (and yes that was meant to be a double-entendre). :) As a pre-teen, my parents never expected that my Conan comics had buxom bar-wenches. One must never go into these movies with high-expectations. It makes them so much more enjoyable! Nuff said...
Vintage Arnold Grown men roided up and fighting with big swords. Hot princess gets rescued. All now in HD. What more can you ask for?
Pleasantly surprised I actually liked this movie. I have been hesitant to watch it because I felt like I would be betraying the original or something, but its worth a buck
Great for 99¢ Good movie doesnt follow the plot of the original but it was still a good bargain
Pretty good I do like Jason I'm other things, he pretty badass.
Mac watched it not even comparable to the original. were the writers part of the two world series for xbox360 compare the locations and the game art.
Ok It was ok. Not the best action movie, but just ok too much action less plot lucky it was 99cent
The Brutal World Of Hyboria Relived! Great movie... brutal all the way through and the sound track was excellent.
