Dan Zak
Why couldn't Couples Retreat have been lighthearted and zany throughout, instead of trying to push across a message about picket-fence monogamy?
Trevor Johnston
Expectations of farce are stymied by long stretches of mid-life navel gazing.
Keith Uhlich
It's too easy to say that Peter Billingsley shot his eye out with this inept comic trifle, but...well, he shot his eye out.
Tom Long
This is one of those films, like last week's Whip It and so many others of late, that looks like it was a lot fun to make. It's just not all that much fun to watch.
Rick Groen
There are also scenes, the disjointed kind that wander off aimlessly in the vague hope of finding a movie, not to mention a laugh.
A.O. Scott
Couples Retreat is a comedy of exhaustion. But it is the comedy itself, in both concept and execution, that seems tired.

Pretty Good Much better than I thought it would be. Bateman's character was irritating but the other characters were enjoyable and mostly funny.

Brilliant This isn't the type of movie that'll have you rolling in your chair laughing, but the dialogue and plot are both brilliant. A fantastic "feel good movie" with witty comments, likable characters, a beautiful setting, and a terrific resolution to some of the crisis' you'll discover later in the film. Highly recommended.
Funny with great scenery A very funny movie that will keep you happy and in a good mood.
Realistic depiction Of everyday relationships. Funny, honest, and great island setting, maybe it's just a chickflick. Bateman plays an annoying tool flawlessly...I wanted to choke him many times ;)
Funny Not over the top funny. Kinda boring at times but still pretty funny.

A funny new twist on a classic love story, WARM BODIES is a poignant tale about the power of human connection. After a zombie epidemic, R (a highly unusual zombie) encounters Julie (a human survivor), and rescues her from a zombie attack. Julie sees that R is different from the other zombies, and as the two form a special relationship in their struggle for survival, R becomes increasingly more human -- setting off an exciting, romantic, and often comical chain of events that begins to transform the other zombies and maybe even the whole lifeless world.

This is a story of a young man's no-holds-barred love affair. Tom still believes in the notion of a transforming, cosmically destined, lightning-strikes-once kind of love. Summer, the girl, doesn't. But that doesn't stop Tom from going after her, again and again, like a modern Don Quixote. Suddenly, Tom is in love not just with a lovely, witty, intelligent woman but with the very idea of Summer, the very idea of a love that still has the power to shock the heart and stop the world.

Sandra Bullock is at her funniest in the laugh-out-loud romantic comedy THE PROPOSAL. On the verge of being deported and losing the high-powered job she lives for, the controlling Margaret announces she's engaged to her unsuspecting, put-upon assistant Andrew (Ryan Reynolds). After proposing a few demands of his own, the mismatched couple heads to Alaska where they have four short days to convince his quirky family and a very skeptical immigration agent that their charade is real. Featuring a star-studded supporting cast, including Mary Steenburgen, Craig T. Nelson and the delightfully inappropriate Betty White, this madcap comedy will have you saying "yes" to THE PROPOSAL again and again.
