The AIDS epidemic was not a happy-ending story. But it was certainly a test of the human spirit. Ron Woodroof passed that test.
Steven Rea
Just about everything is right with Dallas Buyers Club, beginning with Matthew McConaughey's literally transformative portrayal.
Rafer Guzman
A solid biopic is made transcendent by McConaughey, who shed nearly 50 pounds and deserves to gain an Oscar for his ferocious, funny performance.
Calvin Wilson
One of the best films of the year.
Rene Rodriguez
A straight-up portrait of a man who figured out a way to cling to life longer than anyone expected and, in the process, learned to let the world in.
Lisa Kennedy
Played with raw, rattling fury and grace by Matthew McConaughey, Woodroof is a tarnished protagonist of the first order.

"Dallas Buyers Club" takes audiences back to the worst of the AIDS crisis, where the disease was a death sentence, and the public's terror and hostility were at its height.

Dallas Buyer's Club Great movie. It makes you feel in a way you normally wouldn't feel. The characters are well developed and are truly played as real human beings. It depicts exactly what happened in the beginning of the aids epidemic. It shows how far one will go to save his own life and realize it's not only his life he's saving but the ones he has been in judgment of. Gay men. Transsexuals and women who got infected by the disease. Worth watching over and over again.

Excellent Status!!!***** 5 Stars Wow! This movie totally blew me away with the true events of Mr. Ron Woodroof...the movie's main character. Not to mention all of the great acting actors. Ron Woodroof, was truly a slick hustler in his own right prior to his fatal illness, as a gambler. His hustler instint style still continued in a much provocative way of helping people that had Hiv/Aids...including himself. Through out the movie a strong effort of communicating to the world was carried out by Matthew M... via his character..Ron Woodroof.
I like this movie I do like the fact that the main character shows his weaknesses and strengths, the HIV Virus is represented as a disease but as the invisible menance that it is. The movie itself is well written, the acting is excellent, the best thing about this movie that stands out is the fact that he went above and beyond what any human being should do to stop the disease, something that he didn't understand nor when when it came to others was very intolerant.

Inspired by a true story...a Tear Jerker! So glad this film is now part of my collection, Sadly it won't be an Oscar winner for best film.(although just to be nominated amongst the other films this year is saying a lot). This film is amazing. I will be honest and say, I am no big fan of Matthew McConaughey. I do think his performance in this film, as Ron Woodroof was fantastic. I am a fan of both the music and acting of Jared Leto, and his portrayel of Rayon brought tears to my eyes (and so many other emotions) he deserves every single award he has received. Hopefully an Oscar will be in his future!

Well Written, Well Directed When this movie was in the theaters I decided to skip it. The previews didn't have that Hollywood 'pop' if you will. Now that I've seen the movie, I regret not having seen it on the big screen. It is a very powerful movie that brings alight a disease that, after decades, modern medicine is still struggling to bring under control.
Lacking. I love Jared Leto and 30STM and thought that he beautifully portrayed a trans women and I have a sense of pride in him for doing it so flawlessly. The story needed development. I disliked the fag word being used so freely and frequently, it seemed unnecessary... we get it homophobic cowboys, don't have to use the word 100 plus times. I wish the story was told with a little bit more passion I think Matt Mc was to blame because he has no history with the lgbt community . Should have used Neil Pat Harris!

A Must See Although I want to feed Matthew McConaughey a sandwich because of the scary lengths he went to drop down to nearly 120 lbs for this role, his acting in this movie is phenomenal. It is a poignant, raw look into the 1980s HIV/AIDS epidemic and an expose of how treatment for it's victims was backwards in our government (and for drugs with many other conditions/diseases still is today because of the stronghold the pharmaceutical companies have over the FDA). I enjoyed how there was still humor laced in with the fight of survival because it helped keep my interest throughout without distracting from the triumphant fight for survival. It was very accurate in depicting how misinformed the public was in the transmission of the HIV virus as just a "gay disease". The most touching thing in this movie to me was how ignorance gradually broke down its walls and transformed into genuine understanding and acceptance between the main characters. I never write movie reviews because I have the attention span of a bird, so anything more than an hour better not be a snoozefest. However, Dallas Buyers Club kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. This is hands down a must see film.
Outstanding Yes there was a lot of sex but that was his journey. There was also sickness and that was shown in how much weight Matthew Mc lost. He was dedicated to the role to the point he was unrecognizable. Like he said on Leno, it was a low budget film that no one wanted to make because you had to actually act. I loved it, and kudos to Rayon...I loved her too!
Touching and Educational! I really enjoyed watching this film! Matthew does an exceptional job in this movie, along with Jennifer. I find it compelling, how a man's will to live longer, didn't stop at any of the hurdles that went his way. HIV/Aids is a deadly virus, please be safe and use protection everyone! R.I.P Rayon & Woodroof. I totally recommend this film!
