coye v
Indie film that far surpasses what is normally expected from indie films. What lengths would you go to in order to make sure your loved ones are safe during an extreme crisis? Dead Weight takes you on one man's (Charlie's) journey to do just that. While hinting at what's happening in the world around him, the film shows you how that world is affecting him -- physically, emotionally and psychologically. Between the quality of the film, it's score, it's story, and a good portion of the actors, Dead Weight is an indie film that doesn't feel indie at all.

The Mist
David Drayton (Thomas Jane) and his young son Billy (Nathan Gamble) are among a large group of terrified townspeople trapped in a local grocery store by a strange, otherworldly mist. David is the first to realize that there are things lurking in the mistÉdeadly, horrifying thingsÉcreatures not of this world. Survival depends on everybody in the store pulling togetherÉbut is that possible, given human nature? As reason crumbles in the face of fear and panic, David begins to wonder what terrifies him more: the monsters in the mistÑor the ones inside the store, the human kind, the people that until now had been his friends and neighbors? In this legendary tale of terror from master storyteller Stephen King, the thin veneer of civilization is stripped away, the masks are discarded, and the true horror is revealed as us.
Halloween (2007)
From acclaimed musician and filmmaker Rob Zombie (The Devil's Rejects, House of 1000 Corpses) comes an entirely new take on the highly successful and terrifying Halloween legacy that began in 1978. While revealing a new chapter in the established Michael Myers saga, the film will surprise both classic and modern horror fans with a departure from prior films in the Halloween franchise. Audiences should brace themselves for unprecedented fear as Zombie turns back time to uncover the making of a pathologically disturbed, even cursed child, named Michael Myers. 1408 (Director's Cut)
Adapted from the terrifying short story by suspense master, Stephen King. Renowned horror novelist Mike Enslin (John Cusack) believes only in what he can see with his own two eyes. But after a string of bestsellers discrediting paranormal events in the most infamous haunted houses and graveyards around the world, he has no real proof of life...afterlife. But Enslin's phantom-free run of long and lonely nights is about to change forever when he checks into suite 1408 of the notorious Dolphin Hotel for his latest project, "Ten Nights in Haunted Hotel Rooms." Defying the warnings of the hotel manager (Samuel L. Jackson), the author is the first person in years to stay in the reputedly haunted room. Another bestseller may be imminent, but like many Stephen King heroes, first he must go from skeptic to true believer -- and confront his demons to survive the night. The Reader
Academy Awards' winner Kate Winslet (Revolutionary Road) delivers a dynamic performance in this "tale of eroticism, secrecy and guilt" (Claudia Puig, USA Today) set in turbulent post-Nazi Germany. Bringing to life the celebrated international novel, Winslet is riveting as Hanna Schmitz, a lonely, working-class woman who experiences a brief but intense affair with a teenage boy. Years later they meet again: Hanna now a defendant in a notorious case and her ex-lover, now a law student, holding the secret to her salvation. Directed by three-time Academy Awards' nominee Stephen Daldry (Billy Elliot, The Hours) and featuring Ralph Fiennes (The Duchess) as the grown man still reeling from Hanna's influence, The Reader is a "moving, romantic and poignant story, (Roger Friedman, Fox News) about the difficult distance between truth and reconciliation
Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans
In Werner Herzog's new film Bad Lieutenant: Port Of Call New Orleans, Nicolas Cage plays a rogue detective who is as devoted to his job as he is to scoring drugs while playing fast and loose with the law. He wields his badge as often as he wields his gun in order to get his way. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, he becomes a high-functioning addict who is a deeply intuitive, fearless detective reigning over the beautiful ruins of New Orleans with authority and abandon. Complicating his tumultuous life is the prostitute he loves (played by Eva Mendes) and together they descend into their own world marked by desire, compulsion, and conscience. The result is a singular masterpiece of filmmaking: equally sad and manically humorous.
MPAA Rating: R for drug use and language throughout, some violence and sexuality
Cast: Nicolas Cage, Eva Mendes and Val Kilmer

As his exploration into the death continues, Clyde's perception of what is real and imagined becomes increasingly blurred.
Compliance
Inspired by true events, COMPLIANCE tells the chilling story of just how far one might go to obey a figure of authority. Convinced she's only doing what's right, Sandra commences the investigation, following step-by-step instructions from the officer at the other end of the line, no matter how invasive they become.
