Drama

Henry (Michael Biehn) and his son, Nathan (Matthew Ziff), are forced to spend time together during the weekend of a friend’s wedding. We see very early that their relationship is strained and their time with each other is uncomfortable, but when a storm moves in and the road washes out, secrets are revealed and the situation heads toward peril. When Henry learns that Nathan plans to quit school and ask his girlfriend, Cecilia (Sarah Butler), to marry him, he expresses disapproval. Nathan isn't surprised, his dad has never approved of his relationship. We soon learn that Henry's apprehension is based on something far more sinister than fatherly concern. Henry slept with Cecilia during a one night affair. He put the incident behind him, but Cecilia has other ideas and tells Henry that he's the one she wants to be with, and that she plans to end her relationship with Nathan so that the two of them can be together. Henry tries to humor her, in hopes of holding things together through the weekend, but then his girlfriend, Vanessa (Caitlin Keats), tells him a secret, she's figured out that Cecilia is pregnant and Henry is now worried that the baby is his. Nathan is happy when he learns that Cecilia is having a baby, but the guilt proves too much for Cecilia and she confesses that, "There was another guy." Henry has to think quick on his feet as Nathan and Vanessa start putting pieces of the puzzle together, all while Cecilia is trying to convince him to leave his girlfriend and start a happy new life together with her and the new baby - which may or may not be his.

Three Evenings

Adapted from a short story by his father, independent filmmaker, Arshak Amirbekyan, presents Three Evenings, a film made with an incredibly low budget and a storytelling that will not resort to sex, violence, or suspense. Accompanied by existentialistic music of Eric Sati and Claude Debussy, a simple story will unfold about the complications of loneliness, betrayal, and the compassionate bond between two strangers.
Simon, rather an ordinary Soviet scientist, an ornithologist humbly lives his ordinary Soviet life filled with ?heart exhausting and well organized? solitude. But something promises to change when a strange woman with a drama of her own enters his life.
As they meet for the first time, it turns out that she has been following her husband, who was having an affair with a woman of ?bad reputation?, who happened to be Simon's neighbor and was too frequently having crazy parties at her basement apartment right bellow Simon?s home.
For the second time they meet on a cold rainy evening several days later. Simon sees her standing alone and disheartened: she is on watch again, although there is no use in it any more as she confesses. Simon feels he has to invite her in to warm up and have a rest. They talk, they get cordial, and compassion grows into affection as her story begins to unfold, accompanied with the sounds of yet another crazy party which was going on in the basement apartment. And her heartbreak gets even worse as they hear the sounds of the flute, played by her husband and repeatedly interrupted by the wild shouts of drunken guests?
Then few days later she comes to see Simon for the third time...

The Crime Of Father Amaro
Drama
4
A priest discovers the path of virtue can be steep, and temptation can demand a heavy price, in this controversial drama from Mexico. Father Amaro (Gael Garcia Bernal) is a young Catholic priest whose mentor, the Bishop (Ernesto Gomez Cruz), expects great things from him. However, like all priests, Amaro must first be assigned where he is needed most, which leads him to the small rural community of Los Reyes, where Amaro is to assist Father Benito (Sancho Gracia). To his shock, Amaro discovers Benito is hardly following Holy Law -- he's having an affair with Sanjuanera (Angelica Aragon), a woman who runs a local restaurant, and he's been helping a drug dealer launder his profits in exchange for large donations to the church, which Benito feels is justified as the funds are being used to build a hospital and orphanage for the poor. Amaro is disgusted with Benito's actions, but he soon discovers his own weaknesses when he falls in love with Amelia (Ana Claudia Talancon), Sanjuanera's teenage daughter. As Amelia finds herself falling for Amaro, she breaks off her relationship with Ruben (Andres Montiel), a reporter. Ruben responds by publishing a story which reveals the details of Benito's dealings with the drug dealers; Benito in turn tries to lay the blame at the feet of noble Father Natalio (Damian Alcazar), whose work with local peasants has been wrongly interpreted as supporting armed revolutionary factions. As Amaro tries desperately to distance himself from the growing scandal, he receives shocking news from Amelia when he learns she's pregnant with his child. The Crime of Father Amaro's portrayal of corruption within the Catholic Church led to an outcry from Catholic organizations, both in Mexico and the United States, where they attempted to organize a boycott of the film. However, the tactic failed in Mexico, where the controversy helped to boost ticket sales, making it the highest-grossing Mexican film ever in its native country.
