Hadbahedi, a small but beautiful town, is forward looking but honest. It competes for resources and recognition with a neighboring corrupt town, Triphala. Arun and Devika get along well, their romance blossoming, while ruthless Chintu is falling prey to the tempting monetary and political offer made by Triphala. The town by now has started getting the media and government's attention due to Chintu's stay in Hadbahedi. Chintu with the tempting offer from Triphala, on one side, and Arun-Devika with the townfolk on the other, are at the middle of a see-saw climax, while concurrently, Arun's past unfolds.

Laxmikant Kabadiya aka LK (Anupam Kher) is one of India's richest industrialists. His conglomerate is on the verge of a 5000 crore IPO that should make them one of the largest companies in the country. LK's family can't stop salivating at the thought of all that money. Unfortunately for all of them on the night before the IPO opens, LK dies. The family is distraught and horrified as now no one will buy their shares. So, on the advice of their family guru, the family decides to hide the death of LK for a period of two days till the shares are all sold out. However, to make matters worse, every time they're ready to announce LK's death, fate intervenes forcing them to keep his death hidden for another couple of days. This results in them having to announce the death of a fictitious friend or a relative of LK's; which means generating dead bodies and worse, getting the dead LK to make appearances at these funerals.

Spoilt brats Sonu and Monu are the two sons of a rich businessman, Seth Amirchand. Their favourite past time is to extort money from their hapless dad, by hook or by crook, by threats or blackmail. Frustrated with his sons antics, Amirchand decides that the best way to deal with them is to separate them from each other. Subsequently, Sonu is sent off to Goa to recover dues from a client, where he meets Pooja, and falls in love with her. Meanwhile Monu, who is forced to attend the office daily, meets Ritu, Pooja's sister, and falls in love with her. To impress Pooja's father, Seth Gulzarilal, Sonu plays a prank, which leads him to trouble, and he has no choice but to seek Monu's help. To complicate matters even more, underworld don, Bhai demands money from Amirchand, only to have Amirchand mock and ridicule him, thinking it is another prank by his sons. A fuming Bhai swears to avenge this humiliation.
