One of the year's most likeable family entertainments.
Laremy Legel
Despicable Me is darned cute. I know cute isn't to the lofty level of "message storytelling" but it can be entertaining to watch when done correctly.
Rick Groen
This animated thing pretty near out-Pixars Pixar.
Tom Long
The result is a sweet and witty bit of animated fun with both eye-popping 3-D effects and a warm heart.
Chris Vognar
There's a fine line between gleeful anarchy and wasted energy, and Despicable Me has a wonderful knack for staking out its spot and staying on the right side.
A.O. Scott
So much is going on in this movie that, while there's nothing worth despising, there's not much to remember either.

Welcome to the on-screen psychoanalysis of Joan Rivers, of which she seems equal parts willing participant and antagonist.

Wow! I was disappointed... In myself, for renting it instead of buying it. I will correct that mistake. I'm a 46 year old man/kid, and love Pixar and the like. But this one ranks near or at the top of the list with Monsters Inc., Toy Story, and Finding Nemo. It took me 2 1/2 hours to watch cuz I kept rewinding to either catch all of the subtle comedy in the background, or just to laugh my butt off at yet another clip of writing genius. I can admit I don't need any children around to enjoy this movie repeatedly.

Positively terrible. If even a tenth of this production's advertising budget had gone to the writers, this film could have been a classic. It most certainly wasn't. Pixar amazes me with their capacity to make fantastic family films. Despicable Me amazes me with its capacity to cram so many cheap gags, stale plot points, cookie cutter characters, and recycled jokes into an hour and a half. I suppose I shouldn't have expected much more from a children's animated comedy, but frankly, this film was dull and forgettable.

Fun, charming, well-crafted This was simply delightful! The animation was very well done; the characters were charming and sympathetic, the story was predictable yet interesting. The minions are so adorable, too! I've seen it twice, about a year apart, and it holds up very well -- just as enjoyable the second time.

Hate w/ a passionate hatred. This movie is everything I hate about stupid people all wrapped up in one disgusting eyesore. I cant believe this crap gets through production and enough imbeciles have enough money to keep it afloat. Idiocracy was sadly optimistic if this is the kind of dross we're accepting already. God save us few who still have a brain cell left after suffering through this waste. No, watching animated idiotic monsters bumble around and make potty jokes isn't comedy - surprise!

Not Pixar quality Even with Pixar's quality slipping nowadays, their storylines and visual detail are typically far better than that of this movie. It's not terrible, but far from one of the greatest cg animated films of our time. If a movie is going to be about it's "bits/gimmick's", then they gotta be great. Most of the bits in this movie are lackluster and merely fill time between the various story elements. The fact that the story is rather undeveloped doesn't help either.
Dispicable Me It is the most cute movie.....I Love the minnions...I saw a commerical that there gonna have another one coming out in 2013...I think its the summer...but it could come earlier than that...but iam sure to see that one to,hopefully it will be as cute as the first.one... wonder what the story line will be,cant wait :)
SPOILER WHO NOT SAW DM 2 Vector is not in this movie (killed da summer vibe and vector still at da moon but people think he died with lack of oxygen) but their is another villain called euardro a.k.a da sexiest El Macho and dr.nefario retires and help el macho creat new purple minions and grus new partner is called lucy wilde which nefario rehires and gru and lucy got married at the end of da movie. 0 sad parts at ALL!
Awesome movie Movie had the ability to inspire each one of the viewers emotions. Great comedy. I actually purchased this movie after watching it. This is one of my favorite CGI flicks...
