Jeannette Catsoulis
Circling wildly within the film's main set -- a stalled elevator car -- or hurtling up and down an empty shaft, Mr. Fujimoto's camera is as giddy as a tween at a Justin Bieber concert.
Michael Rechtshaffen
There's an old belief in TV series production circles that if you're doing a stuck-in-an-elevator episode before Season 4, it's a telltale sign you've run fresh out of ideas.
Nick Pinkerton
A Night Gallery reject worth experiencing only to gape at a "spirituality" that falls somewhere between Dostoyevsky and Jack Chick, and to laugh that such daring feats of narrative illogic were undertaken with a straight face.
Drew Toal
This is the sort of cut-rate cinematic Cheez Whiz that gives religious horror movies a bad name. Still, at least it's not The Last Airbender.
Ben Sachs
The great cinematographer Tak Fujimoto has the time of his life on this low-budget horror feature, playing with dolly shots, abrupt zooms, and negative space inside the widescreen frame, and the fun is infectious.
James Berardinelli
At best a cheesy, unsatisfying thriller and, at worst, a waste of time.

Devil is guaranteed to keep you on tenterhooks from beginning to end -- and without much gore.

A review you can trust A great thriller, actually. Not really that scary. Its a hold-your-breath kind of movie. An AMAZING hold-your-breath kind of movie though. (: Gets boring in some parts... But holds your attention when the good parts come. :D The ending will have you shivering under the covers at night. Definitely worth renting but the cost of buying is not worth it. - A review you can trust. :)

Devil Is Meh Devil has quite a contrived and idiotic plot. A group of people trapped in an elevator and one is the Devil? Seriously? There's nothing that good, interesting or special about this movie, with the plot twist starring right at you before it happens even though it might have you guessing one or two times. There are better films to watch than this.

You Know The "Twist" Ending Already Like his movies before M. Night introduces nothing new here. The one you most suspect of being the Devil, because they are so blatant about you not suspecting him/her is the one that it really is. While I may give away that aspect, it is how they go about getting there that is amazing. The story isnt fantastic, but the characters backgrounds are typical of everyday Americans. What makes the story special, is this is a straight up story from the bible and how the Devil is tempting one to take his or her revenge on another. Trapped in an elevator with strangers, one by one they are picked off and die right next to you, knowing you have an opportunity to either kill someone who killed a member of your family, or kill the Devil or sacrifice yourself for the betterment of the world, what choice do you make. Moral of the story, I no longer get into elevators with old women or security guards, hot chicks, or men in business suits.
why elevators scare me This movie is sooooo freaking good amd scary as hell
Not 4 every 1 This movie is only scary due to how it can mind f**k someone. One of M. Night's better movies, n goes in sync w his 1st master pieces. M. Night fans will get this, supersticious ppl will get this, others might not like it as much; but we r all our own critic lol
Love it This is the best movie I love it it is not that scary
