Richard Roeper
Equilibrium is equal parts video game and GQ fashion spread.
Lisa Schwarzbaum
Matrixian, Orwellian, and boneheadian.
Bill Muller
This inventive, low-budget science-fiction movie stands on its own, from its bracing, ingenious fight sequences to its literate roots in dystopian fiction.
Kirk Honeycutt
Borrows from so many literary and cinematic sources that this future world feels absolutely deja vu.
Mick LaSalle
It's super- violent, super-serious and super-stupid.
Joe Baltake
A dull, somnambulant exercise in pretension whose pervasive quiet is broken by frequent outbursts of violence and noise.

Nothing New Here It's a dystopian future. No artistic expression or creativity made possible for daily injections. War is "no more," thanks to the oppressive totalitarian state. Enter Christian Bale as the widower John Preston. He's a combat-trained Grammaton Cleric. He's one of the best, but he accidentally misses his daily injection and discovers the world of feelings. Bale is wonderfully cast to portray Preston as the expressionless enforcer, and director Kurt Winner incorporates some stylish action scenes with his fictional "gun kata," but the movie borrows ways too many ideas to make it feel truly worthwhile. There's nothing that really stands out in this movie from its science-fiction predecessors, and its plot seems out of character for the protagonist. Equilibrium was a box office disaster (returning just $5.3 million worldwide on a $20 million budget) and received mixed to negative reviews.

"Not With Incident" The 2nd of Kurt Wimmer's Gun-Kata movies. Equilibrium while not a perfect movie is a Fun one. Released Not long before he was announced as BATMAN. Christian Bale does a Doable Job as the Hero. PS Don't Judge it by the Google trailer as it mixes up the story and is minor spoilerish as in the movie it plays differently than the trailer lets on.
