James Berardinelli
Hafstrom tries to pretend his stars are about 40 and, for the most part, it works.
Bruce Demara
Escape Plan is the newest vehicle for aging action stars Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger and, in this case, it's a lemon or possibly an Edsel.
Bilge Ebiri
Try not to think too hard about it, and Escape Plan is stupid, stupid fun.
Kyle Smith
Schwarzenegger misses no opportunity to be hilarious. How many actors can make you chuckle even when they're being waterboarded?
Tom Long
As Hollywood vehicles for aging action stars go, it's at least serviceable. Of course it's ridiculous, but what else would you expect?
Tirdad Derakhshani
A mildly amusing, if ultimately pointless prison-break thriller from Mikael Håfström.

Escape Plan is set in an ultra-modern prison, but it's fossilized entertainment.

Escape Plan I want to rate the trailer a 20 on a scale of 1 - 10 but I wrote that2 hoping to b able to write this cause thats all we have to go on @ this point. But all movie trailers r that way--- put the best parts in the trailers. But how do they expect you to rate THE MOVIE based on a TRAILER!!!!!!???? We all know that trailers dont always justify the movie. Everyone, even Jaime Fox, talked his futureristic "Super Airplane" movie _ Stealth_, although I really enjoyed it. Well I had to say something n that's it.
Eh its watchable While Escape Plan does have a few good scenes this movie is still decent at best. Stallone presents a decent performance while the surrounding cast remains a little stale, and why is 50 Cent even in this movie. But has some so so action and a decent story so I would say its a C-Action movie.

not bad anyone else find super weird the scene toward the end (DON'T WORRY, NO SPOILERS) where jim caviezel is standing behind the guy on the cctv monitor and starts stroking his bald head as he tells him to zoom in? so funny. i think caviezel had more fun filming than anybody. it would have been cool if this movie had aimed to provoke a bit more thought on the actual prison industrial complex, but, hey, i'm not mad about it. action, right?
Dry as old manure Seriously, if you are looking for a good escape movie, this is not it. The 'warden' is a crazy and sadistic nut ball, but he is too quiet for that to be fun. He never snaps, always keeps his cool, and is never very interesting. You get two stars because I found Stallone attractive. Other than that there's not much here.

A surprisingly enjoyable film I went in to this film thinking that Sly and Arnold are past their prime and they should just get on with retirement. I must admit that I couldn't have been more wrong. I'd even say that their maturity enhanced their characters tremendously. I don't often look for sequels but I'd be interested in seeing more of these two! It was nonstop fun and action but it made you think as well, which is not something you'd expect from a Stallone or Schwarzenegger film, but they pull it off nicely.

Love it! I admit I'm pretty biased because I've always loved Stallone and Schwarzenegger, but aside from that, this was an excellent movie. The plot was unique and the acting was great(although I think that there could've been better choices as far as secondary cast members go). I have to say, Jim Caviezel really stole the show in this one...his acting was amazing and he played a very convincing "bad guy". For anyone who loves action, this is a great pick!

Sly and Arnold.... If you were a fan of their style of shoot'em up, highly physical action, you'll love this movie. This is not your Oscar nod, rags to riches, critics only fare. So, if you're looking for a movie to pretend you enjoy at the water-cooler and wax philosophic about its nonexistent metaphors for the director's or actors' pain and angst, see another movie. If you want 80's/90's-like action with a bite and two longstanding heroes of the action genre, you'll get just the cure for what ails you. Jim Caviezel is an awesome choice as the believable, sociopathic villain. Arnold and Sly are equally cool as our grey area protagonists. I'm really glad to see these two put on another show, and I look forward to more!

It was OK..... It could have been much better. I gave this movie three stars for the action and the fact that it did have me focused most of the time. a good way to rate a movie is weather or not you pause it when you go to fetch a soda or take a leak. I paused it each time. The down side to the film is the final escape plan. I don't want to spoil anything so SPOIL ALERT!!! DO NOT READ FORWARD IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE FILM. The final escape plan could have been better. Maybe some cool tricks with ordinary objects, or a plan that you can follow along with and say wow that was clever. All they did was start a riot, knock out a few guards, steal a gun and headed to the top of the ship for an awaiting helicopter. Where is the planning? Where is the special tactics that made this guy the ultimate "break out of jail dude"? I'm let down.... Just head to the top of the ship to a helicopter?? If they would have made a better escape plan I would have given this one all five stars.

Much better than I hoped for Both Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone's acting made this movie exciting and fast moving and saying that is a lot after some of the awful recent films by both of these actors. This is a diverting way to spend your time other than going out and doing something useful LOL.
