Bill Goodykoontz
There is something refreshing in the decidedly downbeat "Europa Report," a science-fiction film with the emphasis on science that doesn't cheat on the tension.
Walter V. Addiego
Low key and earnest, Sebastián Cordero's "Europa Report" makes compelling use of familiar genre material to create an intelligent science fiction thriller.
Tirdad Derakhshani
There are scenes of unutterable beauty in Europa Report, a low-budget space exploration sci-fi suspenser from Ecuadorian director Sebastián Cordero.
Mark Feeney
What isn't straightforward about the plot is either hackneyed, implausible, or both.
Michael D. Lemonick
The idea that life evolved independently on Europa is perfectly plausible-and that makes what would be a fun and exciting film in any case all the more worth watching.
Ben Sachs
I'm not qualified to judge the accuracy of the scientific detail, though the filmmakers convey a genuine respect for hard science instead of the cursory interest shown by most science fiction movies.

Smart and intriguing Not your traditional pop-corn sci-fi and it excels because of that. If you're looking for something that will spoon-feed you, skip it. If you're looking to think and bear witness to real situations, then you're in for a treat. The situations and context are very realistic yet don't sacrifice the drama. Just a really smart and unique look at such an event. Entire family liked it a lot.

Campy but worth the rental fee This movie is a strange brew. On one hand, the imagery of the planets and stars is amazing, buy on the other hand, the scenes where the astronauts are supposed to floating in zero gravity harken back to SciFi from the sixties. The astronauts looked so ridiculous obviously hanging from cables that I laughed out loud. In that respect, this movie falls far short of Apollo 13. Also, the line that the moon's surface temperature was holding steady at absolute zero was an astounding oversight considering all of the collaboration with NASA. In the end, the bad parts of the movie were so goofy that they were at least entertaining. A solid 3 star rental.

Look at that... REAL Science Fiction! (4.5 stars) Oh hey, look at that. Someone out there is actually capable of making a brilliantly executed, hard-science Science Fiction film. Sebastian Cordero's EUROPA REPORT, just watched it on VOD, **highly recommended**!! Really good cast, writing, VFX, score (by BSG's Bear MCCreary) and, did I mention, "SCIENCE!"? That piece of sci-fi crud, PROMETHEUS, wishes it had been this good (and made for this little money). A bit predictable (more like "inevitable"), but not because scientists are doing things like removing their helmets or playing with cobras. In some ways, EUROPA REPORT has been done before, but not exactly like this and generally not this well. MORE LIKE THIS, PLEASE! Hello? Hollywood?? Are you listening?

The Best Sci-Fi in a while For quite a while now, sci-fi has contained very little science and a whole lot of fiction, set so far in the future that we have no idea if what is being present is pure fantasy or fiction based on science. Europa Report is true science fiction. Everything in this movie feels like it could plausibly happen within the current decade. The movie doesn't have the visual effects of a block buster sci-fi, but it tells a great story and returns to the roots of what a sci-fi movie should be.

If you have/like imagination... This movie will bring some of it out of you. The great points of the movie were definitely the possibility of a not so distant "science fact" future mixed in with science fiction of today. The questionable portions were definitely "why send people to Europa when we've already sent successful missions through Jupiter's orbit multiple times, and we already successfully know how to land on other planets without human intervention?" - Well, why even question that? When the data connection to Earth is severed (spoiler alert? - not really), you then know exactly why they sent humans from the beginning - a giant experiment to see how humans would react in unusual circumstances... Okay that's not it, we already saw that one on MTV and all the other reality shows to follow out there. If you're a Science Fiction lover or simply love space in general - watch the movie and enjoy it as I did! Well Johnnie Walker and I did it together... An epic first of its kind movie (sort of).

If you pay attention, you'll love it! Ignore the negative comments. I hate bad movies & even more so, bad acting, this film has none of that. It's presented in the vantage point of "The Blair Witch Project", "Clover field", "Apollo 18" etc. The acting is superb as is the story line. It's gripping enough to make you oblivious too everything & anything around you, because you become entranced by it. If you have the attention span of a rock, no common sense and/or can't understand movies like "The Matrix", this film will frustrate you.

Scifi done right for a change If you are a lover of the genre, then this is a definite must see. No glam, no relying on effects to carry a story, in fact it is the other way around. There have been a lot of horrible scifi movies come out lately and it is nice to see that a classic bare bones story that is put together right can outshine any of the most recent big budget hollywood scifi projects. MOAR OF THIS PLEASE!

Boring, predictable, lack of characters. I wanted to like this movie but was put off by the lack of substance and overly stylized scene transitions. The narrative cut scenes hit the viewers over the head with the story in an amateurish way. None of the characters held any emotional depth or attachment. Even the alien was boring and predictable.
Best in class... Serious minded Sci Fi is hard to come by. This film is fairly realistic, well acted and superbly filmed. Most importantly it had a good story line with characters you can care about, though it successfully avoids becoming overly sentimental and is without cliches. If you are looking for fantasy Sci fi, or an action ride, there are other options.
guh... Yet another "found footage" film... from the future. Of all the movies i have watched over 29 years of life this is now my third movie i did not finish. If this was released in any format other than "found footage" i would actually probably enjoy it. EDIT: if you don't know what i mean by "found footage" i mean shakey film, moving back and forth in time and from every couple mins to even every few seconds. aggravating.
