How many more of these superheroes can we take?
Richard Roeper
He's an ambiguously...heroic hero.
David Edelstein
Apart from having no particular reason to exist onscreen, especially at these prices, it's not half bad.
James Berardinelli
The result makes the movie seem assembled from bits and pieces of other superhero yarns rather than existing on a plane of its own.
Christopher Orr
The superhero genre is the home-court of the underdog, of skinny Peter Parkers and mutant outcasts, of heroes born from pain or ingenuity. In Green Lantern, the rich get richer.
Dana Stevens
Even by the standards of the current run of mediocre comic-book movies, this one stands out for its egregious shoddiness.

As a disjointed rumble in the cosmos, it's both too much and too little, and too dorky looking. In this case, Green means stop.

Great. People talk a lot of crap about this movie because I think it wasn't good but I think it was a great movie like all the other superhero movies. I have no complaints just a few 1 they should have not made it more into a comedy because the actor who plays Green Lantern is in comedy person 2 this should have been a lot more action a lot more fighting but go figure it's the first Green Lantern movie and it was just all about finding out who Green Lantern is and if you can use hi but still good.
Nice try, but still a failure It seems like the filmakers had so many ideas they wanted to present, that they really didn't know how to fit everything in. Many mini plotlines fall short and to the wayside, while the main plot is what suffers the most. The cgi looked very rushed. Considering this is a movie that would have to rely heavily on special effects for the storytelling, you would have thought they could have spent a little more time to at least try to make it look good. The acting came off as stale as well.
Great, fun movie! A lot of purists, and anti social "movie critics", are really keeping you from seeing a cool, fun flick! Worth a watch, just let yourself be a kid!
Good Movie....especially for a buck It wont be a dollar for long, I recommend this movie especially at this price. I had never seen this before and thought it was pretty good, especially if you take into account what a complex story it was to fit in under 2 hours. It's not the best super hero movie you'll ever see, but it's entertaining, a good length and the price is right. Enjoy.
Amazing Kept true to comic books as much as it could given how much Hollywood wants to Glam things up. Very cool movie! Worth the rental. Amazing effects!
Severely disappointed A major disaster that is untrue to its source material and a disappointment as a movie itself. Ryan Reynolds was a terrible choice to say the least.

What.... Warner Bros, and most of all DC.... What were you guys thinking when you made this film...? He was a terrible choice for the character. Lots of plots holes. Character play for the villain was just plain awful. Acting was eh so so. Most of all the plot line was a huge disappointment and a failure to us DC fans.
could have been better I heard the movie was crappy, but I enjoy it could have been better but still need a little better graphic and the story line was good.
Descent Not horrendous, but not fantastic. Ryan Reynolds is tolerable. End seemed rushed, but its a good fun movie, and its was $0.99 so I got no complaints.
Not bad Entertaining movie. Thought some parts were rushed. Overall its good

Ok it's not that great, not bad either. It's an introduction to Green Lantern really. Best viewed in Extended Cut version where you see him as a child and not just in flashbacks. Ryan Reynolds did good, but it was Parallax's "cloud" that I can't accept and why Sinestro wore the Yellow Ring without further explanation. It should've been done in the last part of the sequel. I hope GL gets to have follow up movie. Don't reboot. I forgive the first one, do it better in the second one.

Underrated The problem is this isn't the best Lantern movie WB could have made but was a lot of fun and somewhat true to the books. Problem is people saw The Mask in '95 so they thought this was ripping that off and critics don't know the character. Not sure why the Greeks hated it as well. It's also disgusting that this movie has a lower rating than Catwoman!

Disappointed The characters were forced. It felt like they were just not getting the parts. Only k moments were when the costume wasn't on like when he chatted with his nephew. And -I know this is nitpicking- but a villain initiating a legitimate attack on the earth should have been a bit larger. It appears huge in space then diminished significantly on the planet PLEASE make a "do over"!
Lame Corn-ball alien, too much CGI, bad casting (except the hot chick), weak plot, cliche moral...
Thumbs up I don't care what anyone says. This it's a great treatment of the GLC. Too bad the villain was lame and Hal's first outing as GL was goofy.

Great action hero movie. Was hoping to see a sequel of this one. Not really a comic book buff, but I really like the coming of age or starter movies for heroes. I always like to see how they discover their identity. If you think that it's campy, well it is. It's about a super hero, not a documentary film. Super heroes are our interpretation on how we would right wrongs in a perfectly imperfect world. A good action flick nonetheless.
Horrible Sound Quality The movie deserves 4 stars IMO but the quality of the audio is just horrendous. The nurses in the ER told us to turn the movie down (on my Xoom) because we had the volume all the way up to understand anything that was being said. Hooking my Xoom up to my Samsung HDTV via HDMI did not improve the audio quality at all. If your able to watch this movie via on-demand or a similar service I would recommend it.
