In Japan, Edo era. Jubei is a painter living in "Mikasa tenement" or known as "Cats' Nagaya" where lots of cat are settled. He can communicate with cats. Eventually, night gives way to day and a tense standoff with the student's insanely jealous boyfriend (Ry? Kase); but as usual in Kiarostami, nothing is quite as it appears on the surface.
