Michael Nordine
More approachable as a clinical deconstruction than a conventional narrative.
Martin Tsai
It's surprising that a screenplay conceived by three veteran actors would allow so little character development.
Nicole Elmer
Charismatic actors in an understated drama/thriller How We Got Away With It speaks volumes about this understated thriller/drama set between old friends getting together for their ritual "good time" weekend. The performers are all very charismatic and extremely well cast, and equally lead well under the directing of Jon Lindstrom. McCaleb Burnett as the lead holds the torch as the protagonist, responsible for a lot of things darker then just making sure his friends are having fun. His plan nearly falls apart when a cop, Jon Lindstrom, is on to him. The color work on the film works very well in leading the viewer into a new set of emotions, and setting the tone for the scenes. The story is so subtle, and rather than spoon-feeding the audience, it requires the viewer to stay engaged in order to full be rewarded at the end by understanding the full scope of the story. This is a breath of fresh air, when most films do all the work and the audience is required to do nothing. I am also glad to see this film take risks in regards to male nudity. This is a very good debut film, and I am excited to see what else Jon Lindstrom will be coming up with next.
Mike Wilson
Great example of why I love independent films This filmmaker takes full advantage of not having to conform to current Hollywood trends in his storytelling. It's patient, breathes, and the pace is just enough to keep you on the edge of your seat, without exhausting you in the first half. Two thumbs way up!

In WE ARE WHAT WE ARE, a seemingly wholesome and benevolent family, the Parkers have always kept to themselves, and for good reason. Behind closed doors, patriarch Frank (Bill Sage, "Boardwalk Empire") rules his family with a rigorous fervor, determined to keep his ancestral customs intact at any cost. As a torrential rainstorm moves into the area, tragedy strikes and his daughters Iris (Ambyr Childers, THE MASTER) and Rose (Julia Garner, MARTHA MARCY MAY MARLENE, SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR) are forced to assume responsibilities that extend beyond those of a typical family. As the unrelenting downpour continues to flood their small town, the local authorities begin to uncover clues that bring them closer to the secret that the Parkers have held closely for so many years.

Eden Parish harbors a twisted secret. What started as just another documentary shoot soon becomes a fight for survival.

This critically acclaimed Sundance breakout is hailed as one of the best horror films of the year. Tormented by an unknown entity, a young couple fights to survive a road trip-turned-nightmare when they're trapped in a claustrophobic backwoods maze on a dark road. On one of their first dates, Tom (Iain De Caestecker of TV's AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D) and Lucy (Alice Englert of BEAUTIFUL CREATURES) drive to a music festival in a remote countryside village. But when they leave the main road to look for their hotel they quickly become hopelessly lost. Misleading road signs send them in circles and soon night sets in. As their anxiety escalates they discover they are not alone, and this sadistic game spirals into a white-knuckle ride for survival. Costars Allen Leech (TV's DOWNTON ABBEY, THE IMITATION GAME).
Nothing Left to Fear
Horror
3
The first film from music icon Slash (of Guns N' Roses fame) and the latest from the producers of THE EYE and THE RING, NOTHING LEFT TO FEAR is based on the true-life demonic folklore of Stull, Kansas. Wendy (Emmy®-Nominee Anne Heche of TV's HUNG) and Dan (James Tupper of TV's REVENGE) move their family from the big city to a sleepy Kansas town and take over preaching duties from retiring Pastor Kingsman (Clancy Brown of TV's SLEEPY HOLLOW). Unbeknownst to them, their new home is actually one of the seven known gateways to Hell. The family's quiet new beginning is savagely derailed by a charismatic but emotionally conflicted man of the cloth. Directed by the protégé of Oscar®-Winner Gore Verbinski, this heart-pounding thriller costars Ethan Gregory Peck (THE SORCERER'S APPRENTICE).
Frozen
Horror

Critics have called it "OPEN WATER on a ski lift" and "JAWS in the snow." It remains perhaps the most intense and terrifying film of 2010: As Sunday evening falls, three snowboarding friends decide to take one last run down the slope. Halfway up the mountain, their chair lift stops, the lights go out, and the resort closes for the week. They are stranded, but the worst is still to come. A storm is approaching. Frostbite is setting in. And on the ground below them, a pack of hungry wolves have gathered to wait. Kevin Zegers (DAWN OF THE DEAD, WRONG TURN), Shawn Ashmore (X-MEN, THE RUINS), and Emma Bell star in the relentlessly chilling thriller from writer/director Adam Green (HATCHET) that Harry Knowles of Ain't It Cool News hails as "a vicious, scary and horrifying experience...FROZEN is a howling good time!"
The Dead 2
Horror

In this ferocious sequel to the worldwide horror hit THE DEAD, an infectious epidemic spreads through India as an American turbine engineer (Joseph Millson of TV’s 24: LIVE ANOTHER DAY) learns that his pregnant girlfriend is trapped near the slums of Mumbai. Now he must battle his way across a 300-mile wasteland of the ravenous undead.
Red House
Horror
4
When Shelby Gordon (Kate French) inherits a house from her paternal grandfather Isaiah Hill (Walter Olszewski) in the remote woods of Copperhead County, she asks her friends Carissa (Yvette Yates) and Lindsey (Cristen Coppen) to go with her to check it out. The girls, joined by Chelsea (Kat Sheridan) and her boyfriend Travis (Lawrence Adimora), set out for a weekend in the country. Once they arrive, they discover that due to heavy rainfall the road to the house is closed and they must hike in the back way. Carissa is used to being pampered by her wealthy boyfriend and doesn't enjoy the trek through the woods nor is she happy about the revolting condition the Red House is in when they arrive. Hikers in the area have broken in and used the house as a stopover. They find it filled with trash and empty beer cans. Without telling the group, Carissa hikes back to the car the next morning. Only she never makes it. Assuming Carissa has gone into town to look for a motel, the others go about cleaning the house. While looking through some boxes, Shelby discovers that her father had a brother Joshua (John Otrin) who was institutionalized when he was young. When her friends start to disappear, Shelby suspects that Joshua is still alive and hiding in the attic of the Red House. The girls are also being threatened by a couple of local pot growers, Pink (Gregory Avellone) and his son Will (Ed Ackerman). Is Joshua killing her friends or is it someone else? With the help of Cole Callahan (Brendan Wayne,) the handsome deputy sheriff of Copperhead County, she unravels the mystery. The Red House is not a gore fest but a suspense thriller that will keep you guessing.
