David Lewis
"Interior. Leather Bar." is a Rubik's Cube of a movie, an intriguing, layered puzzle that isn't easily solved.
Elizabeth Weitzman
We see brief, graphic shots of naked actors performing sexual acts. But it's the conversations about what those depictions represent that truly provoke.
Lou Lumenick
It largely consists of Franco musing about depictions of homosexual activity on film.
Joshua Rothkopf
The vagueness feels like a term paper you have to grade.
Manohla Dargis
Simultaneously an act of creation and deconstruction.
Alonso Duralde
Uses the notorious Friedkin movie as a starting point for a discussion about identity, perception, an actor's mask and the fear and power of on-screen sexuality.

A particularly risible nothing whose premise alone betrays the paucity of Franco's imagination and wit.
User reviews
We haven't progressed much. This movie was eye opening mostly due to the fact that the scene that was cut out is still considered to some, shocking. I felt as I watched the film that we haven't moved toward more actual acceptance of sexuality as opposed to more acceptance to the accepting of being "ok" with a gay person's sexuality. Important.

Where I Am
Gay American writer Robert Drake is on the road to recovery ヨ but this is a journey with a difference. Over ten years have passed since a violent and bloody attack by two young men in Sligo, Ireland one dark night left him brain-damaged and unable to walk. It also stopped a writing career just as it was about to take off.
From his home in Philadelphia we follow Robert as he takes a trip back to Ireland to confront the memories of what happened and lay the past to rest. During his journey we see him catching up with old Irish friends and acquaintances and we get a tantalising glimpse of how his life might have been. Full of laughter, tears and literary types, this documentary captures Robertメs spirit and intention ヨ that of moving on positively and taking the world with him.

Love Free or Die
From Sundance 2012, this riveting and timely documentary is about the personal and public journey of a man, Bishop Gene Robinson, whose two defining passions are in direct conflict: his love for God and for his partner Mark. From his consecration in 2003, at which he wore a bullet-proof vest, to churches in small town America to London's Lambeth Palace, Bishop Robinson calls all to stand for equality for LGBT people both in the eyes of the church and the eyes of the law.
Becoming Chaz
Chaz Bono was a male trapped in a female shell for as long as he can remember. Growing up as Sonny and Cher's adorable golden-haired daughter in a body he felt wasn't his own was a crucible it took years to transcend. Now, as he undertakes gender reassignment, he's bravely decided to share the process on camera. Becoming Chaz invites us along on Chaz's remarkable journey of transformation. As hormone shots give way to top surgery, down-to-earth, unflappable Chaz beams with a sense of liberation and goes public with his story to put a face on a misunderstood issue. Meanwhile, his gregarious girlfriend grapples with the realities of suddenly living with a man, and it's clear sex change isn't solely a physical transition. Intimate and nakedly honest, the film reveals the humanity and courage it takes for Chaz to ultimately embrace his true self. His moving struggle will reverberate profoundly for anyone to whom authenticity matters.
Chasing Beauty
A rare glimpse into the dark side of modeling, Chasing Beauty speaks with supermodels, photographers, agents and the like in a quest to answer one of the industry's most complex questions: What is beauty and is it worth the cost? Each year, thousands of hopefuls begin the pursuit of their modeling dreams, but how many actually succeed, and how long does success last? For many who try, there is no shortage of collateral damage along the way. Beauty is a billion dollar business, but consumers aren't the only ones paying the price.
Blackfish
Killer whales are beloved, majestic, friendly giants, yet infamous for their capacity to kill viciously. Blackfish unravels the complexities of this dichotomy, employing the story of the notorious performing whale Tilikum, who — unlike any orca in the wild — has taken the lives of several people while in captivity. Blackfish expands on the discussion of keeping such intelligent creatures in captivity.
Muscle Shoals
Located alongside the Tennessee River, Muscle Shoals, Alabama has helped create some of the most important and resonant songs of all time. Overcoming crushing poverty and staggering tragedies, Rick Hall brought black and white together to create music for the generations. He is responsible for creating the "Muscle Shoals sound" and The Swampers, the house band at FAME Studios that eventually left to start its own successful studio known as Muscle Shoals Sound. Gregg Allman and others bear witness to Muscle Shoals' magnetism, mystery and why it remains influential today.

How to Survive a Plague
Oscar nominated for Best Documentary! "How To Survive A Plague" is the untold story of the efforts that turned AIDS into a mostly manageable condition -- and the improbable group of young men and women who, with no scientific training, infiltrated government agencies and the pharmaceutical industry, and helped identify promising new compounds, moving them through trials and into drugstores in record time. These drugs saved their lives and ended the darkest days of the epidemic, while virtually emptying AIDS wards in American hospitals.
Drool
Anora Fleece (Laura Harring from MULHOLLAND DRIVE) has got it rotten. Her husband is abusive, her children are disrespectful, and she lives in the middle of nowhere feeling like a nobody. Then Imogene Cochran moves into the neighborhood. Imogene sells Kathy K. Kosmetics make-up for the cocoa skinned woman. The neighbors don't like cocoa skinned anything, but that doesn't stop Imogene and Anora from becoming friends and, eventually, more than friends. When Anora's husband, Cheb (Oded Fehr from THE MUMMY series), finds them, all hell breaks loose, but the tables are turned when Anora accidentally shoots Cheb dead. Anora and Imogene then pile the kids in the Kathy K. car, throw the corpse in the trunk and ride off on a "family" road trip to bury Daddy.
The Living End
THE LIVING END by Gregg Araki is one of the most highly acclaimed classics of New Queer Cinema. Melding pop noir elements into a lovers on the run tale, the film explores the sexual and fatally romantic consequences of gay male attraction in the 90s. -- After a series of mishaps, Jon hits the road with Luke, a rootless hustler, into the desolate, quasi-surrealistic American Wasteland.
