The film might have benefited from a trim and a more linear approach, but mostly it fulfils its role as an illuminating homage to both the protagonists involved and, above all, the guitar as...
J. R. Jones
Guitar heroes, real or imaginary, will think they've died and gone to heaven.
Liam Lacey
The trouble is, once you get past the historical information and chummy interviews, you have to put up with the inevitable risk of any ad-hoc jam session: It Might Get Boring.
Greg Quill
Davis Guggenheim's contrived documentary is a largely unrewarding essay on the mystique of the ubiquitous electric guitar...
Roger Moore
Rock fans and Guitar Heroes in the making will get a charge out of visiting where the happy accidents that put guitars into each man's hand happened. And the playing isn't bad, either. Loud. But good.
Adam Graham
For guitar geeks, the sight of Page, Edge and White together in one room will be enough. Others, however, can't help but wish it might have gotten a little louder.

Great, but not amazing The edge shouldve had absolutely nothing to do with this movie. I'm okay with Jack white being there cause he's got talent and is respectable. But honestly the edge shouldn't have made the cut. That's like sticking Bieber and Johnny Cash together and saying talk about music. One plays music, the other doesn't. You take a guess at which one is the talentless idiot.
The joy of music is shared here It's fun to watch these three get together and talk, compare notes, and swap stories. They are quite different from each other, yet they seem to appreciate the other's perspective. The joy of music should always be shared this way. Musically, all three are incredibly talented. Personally, Jimmy and the Edge are easy-going and down-to-earth, while Jack is a bit full of himself and his persona. Perhaps it's the age difference. Still, if you play guitar, watch it! You will no doubt enjoy it and learn a lot.
Reasons the Edge is included! C'mon people! This is not a documentary based on the opinion of talent, rather it is based on the evolution of individual style, how they play and how each pioneer their sound. Now, i love Jimmy Page and Jack White is on genius level but the Edge has earned his place in the use of effects. Page is the epitome of a lead guitar player and he stands larger than life, but the Edge was not the same type of guitarist and neither is Jack But, they are all innovators of their own unique sound!

Tim's Vermeer
Tim's Vermeer, directed by Teller of Penn & Teller fame. Produced by Teller's stage partner Penn Jillette and Farley Ziegler, the film follows Tim Jenison, a Texas based inventor, as he attempts to solve one of the greatest mysteries in all of art: How did 17th century Dutch Master Johannes Vermeer ('Girl with a Pearl Earring') manage to paint so photo-realistically, 150 years before the invention of photography? Jenison's epic research project ultimately succeeds as he uses 17th century technology -- lenses and mirrors -- to develop a technique that might have been used by Vermeer, supporting a theory as extraordinary as what he discovers. Spanning a decade, Jenison's adventure takes him to Delft, Holland, where Vermeer painted his masterpieces; on a pilgrimage to the North coast of Yorkshire to meet artist David Hockney; and eventually even to Buckingham Palace, to see the Queen's Vermeer.
