Polished and calculated, this is a nerve-shattering fright fest bolstered by immaculate technique.
Ian Buckwalter
It's a credit to Zombie's interest in growing as an artist that he's drawing from more mature inspirations here, but it's also part of why the movie doesn't work.
Stephen Whitty
It's all meant to be monstrous, unspeakable, blasphemous horror but it comes across more like a slightly dirty drawing, passed in seventh-grade religion class.
V.A. Musetto
Movies by Rob Zombie, the goth rocker turned cult filmmaker, aren't for everybody. But he couldn't care less.
Neil Genzlinger
Considerable care goes into establishing the premise, but the film eventually abandons psychological subtlety for hallucinatory garishness, which is too bad.
Mark Olsen
"The Lords of Salem" will make you feel bad. But it's supposed to.

Easily Zombies Best Film I loved his version of Halloween and like House of 1000 Corpses, but this film has a maturity and atmosphere the others lack. Clearly a tribute to many classic horror directors, Lords of Salem has a sinister beauty that could be watched repeatedly, like Argento or Polanski. I think the demographic who hated it are either offended by the religious themes, or never moved beyond slasher flicks as horror fans.
Amazing If you like mainstream horror films that do good in the box office then this movie is not for you. This movie is low budget, grimy, and utterly creepy. In other words, its perfect. Its not for your average low attention span type of viewer, you need a little imagination and appreciation for creativity to like this movie. My personal favorite of his films. Brilliant. Genuinely creepy.
Zombie so disappointing! I usually love rob zombie films(at time of dvd release I searched every Redbox in town to get it, what a waste of gas and time), but this is by far one of the worst movies ive ever seen(worse than "I know who killed me").it did have a good story line but you get very disappointed at the end.you could of done better zombie. Smh:(
Sluggish but beautiful Rob Zombie has mastered the horror aesthetic to a degree that puts him on par with obvious influences like Carpenter. The story left much to be desired, unfortunately, in spite of a great concept. The movie dragged and the abrupt ending wouldn't be so disappointing if the second act held a more exciting pace. Sadly, this zombie only shambled.
Insane horror head trip This film is surreal, channelling the likes of Kubrick, Polanski, Argento and other prolific horror filmmakers of decades past. From the cinematography to the nightmarish imagery, The Lord's of Salem is a special treat for horror fans and film aficionados alike. Mainstream audiences will probably find it too offensive or intense.
Painfully slow. A movie that you have to tolerate, not enjoy. Grinds along at a snail's pace, with only minor thrills (not scares). An unsuccessful attempt at atmospheric horror. The most frightening image in the film is a methed-out Sherri Moon Zombie after a relapse. Given how boring the film is, I guess you can't really blame her.
BORING! I love everything Rob Zombie has put out, from music to movies, until now. This was the most boring movie I've ever put myself through. You have the feeling that something scary is about to happen, but it never does. I easily figured out the ending; so easily I wondered if this was supposed to be a part of the movie. I started thinking, "Maybe Rob's wife just wanted to be in another movie, so he wrote a script one weekend, and the producers, etc., jumped all over it, because, after all, he is Rob Zombie." I don't know - judge for yourself.
This was really bad I was expecting so much more after house of 1000 corpses and the devils rejects. this is just a bad dont waste your time or money. Its about some devil worshiping witches geting back at modern day salem women for the salem witch burnings, and it has grannys running around naked ewww!!
Cinema equivalent to hot garbage I watched a bootleg copy of this movie in Afghanistan. I paid 1 dollar for it in the bazaar... Wish I could get my money back. This movie is boring empty nonsensical garbage. Don't believe me? The film ends with random clips used on the jumbotron in Zombie's live show, and Sherri Moon Zombie riding a taxidermy goat, follwed by an ICP Juggalo dry humping her from behind.

This critically acclaimed Sundance breakout is hailed as one of the best horror films of the year. Tormented by an unknown entity, a young couple fights to survive a road trip-turned-nightmare when they're trapped in a claustrophobic backwoods maze on a dark road. On one of their first dates, Tom (Iain De Caestecker of TV's AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D) and Lucy (Alice Englert of BEAUTIFUL CREATURES) drive to a music festival in a remote countryside village. But when they leave the main road to look for their hotel they quickly become hopelessly lost. Misleading road signs send them in circles and soon night sets in. As their anxiety escalates they discover they are not alone, and this sadistic game spirals into a white-knuckle ride for survival. Costars Allen Leech (TV's DOWNTON ABBEY, THE IMITATION GAME).

The first film from music icon Slash (of Guns N' Roses fame) and the latest from the producers of THE EYE and THE RING, NOTHING LEFT TO FEAR is based on the true-life demonic folklore of Stull, Kansas. Unbeknownst to them, their new home is actually one of the seven known gateways to Hell. The family's quiet new beginning is savagely derailed by a charismatic but emotionally conflicted man of the cloth. Directed by the protégé of Oscar®-Winner Gore Verbinski, this heart-pounding thriller costars Ethan Gregory Peck (THE SORCERER'S APPRENTICE).

Frozen

Critics have called it "OPEN WATER on a ski lift" and "JAWS in the snow." It remains perhaps the most intense and terrifying film of 2010: As Sunday evening falls, three snowboarding friends decide to take one last run down the slope. Halfway up the mountain, their chair lift stops, the lights go out, and the resort closes for the week. They are stranded, but the worst is still to come. A storm is approaching. Frostbite is setting in. And on the ground below them, a pack of hungry wolves have gathered to wait. Kevin Zegers (DAWN OF THE DEAD, WRONG TURN), Shawn Ashmore (X-MEN, THE RUINS), and Emma Bell star in the relentlessly chilling thriller from writer/director Adam Green (HATCHET) that Harry Knowles of Ain't It Cool News hails as "a vicious, scary and horrifying experience...FROZEN is a howling good time!"

In his loneliness, Owen forms a profound bond with his new neighbor Abby, but can't help noticing that she is like no one he has ever met before. Red House
Horror
4
When Shelby Gordon (Kate French) inherits a house from her paternal grandfather Isaiah Hill (Walter Olszewski) in the remote woods of Copperhead County, she asks her friends Carissa (Yvette Yates) and Lindsey (Cristen Coppen) to go with her to check it out. The girls, joined by Chelsea (Kat Sheridan) and her boyfriend Travis (Lawrence Adimora), set out for a weekend in the country. Once they arrive, they discover that due to heavy rainfall the road to the house is closed and they must hike in the back way. Carissa is used to being pampered by her wealthy boyfriend and doesn't enjoy the trek through the woods nor is she happy about the revolting condition the Red House is in when they arrive. Hikers in the area have broken in and used the house as a stopover. They find it filled with trash and empty beer cans. Without telling the group, Carissa hikes back to the car the next morning. Only she never makes it. Assuming Carissa has gone into town to look for a motel, the others go about cleaning the house. While looking through some boxes, Shelby discovers that her father had a brother Joshua (John Otrin) who was institutionalized when he was young. When her friends start to disappear, Shelby suspects that Joshua is still alive and hiding in the attic of the Red House. The girls are also being threatened by a couple of local pot growers, Pink (Gregory Avellone) and his son Will (Ed Ackerman). Is Joshua killing her friends or is it someone else? With the help of Cole Callahan (Brendan Wayne,) the handsome deputy sheriff of Copperhead County, she unravels the mystery. The Red House is not a gore fest but a suspense thriller that will keep you guessing.
