Ben Mankiewicz
I'd say Love 'n Dancing felt like an after-school special about overcoming disabilities and being the best you can be, but I fear I'd be doing a disservice to after school specials.
Ben Lyons
From the acting, to the music, to most importantly, the dancing everything feels amateur in this film.
Robert Abele
It is unfortunate when someone with a history of staging musical numbers and directing musical sequences can't make dialogue scenes flow.
Kirk Honeycutt
Seems more like a dance studio's infomercial than a romantic comedy.
Chuck Wilson
Everyone moves beautifully, yet director Robert Iscove keeps such a coolly professional distance from the dancers that we never feel their heat.
Bill Goodykoontz
The film starts out as an empowerment story, gravitates toward romantic drama, has bits of lame comedy, and, of course, there's the dancing. Something for everyone, presumably, just none of it very good.

Bland as its title, Love N' Dancing extends the cliches of the dance-and-romance genre -- so overplayed that it's targeted for a Wayans brothers spoof later this month -- to the world of West Coast Swing.

Hurricane Season

Ginger & Rosa
London, 1962, when the Cold War meets the Sexual Revolution. Two teenage girls -- GINGER & ROSA -- are inseparable. They skip school together, talk about love, religion and politics and dream of lives bigger than their mothers' domesticity. But the growing threat of nuclear war casts a shadow over their lives. Ginger (Elle Fanning) is drawn to poetry and protest, while Rosa (Alice Englert) shows Ginger how to smoke cigarettes, kiss boys and pray. Both rebel against their mothers (Jodhi May and Christina Hendricks). Meanwhile, Ginger's pacifist father, Roland (Alessandro Nivola) seems a romantic, bohemian figure to the girls. He encourages Ginger's 'Ban-the-Bomb' activism, while Rosa starts to take a very different interest in him. As Ginger's parents fight and fall apart, Ginger finds emotional sanctuary with a gay couple, both named Mark (Timothy Spall and Oliver Platt), and their American friend, the poet Bella (Annette Bening). Finally, as the Cuban Missile Crisis escalates -- and it seems the world itself may come to an end -- the lifelong friendship of the two girls is shattered. Ginger clutches at one hope; if she can help save the world from extinction, perhaps she too will survive this moment of personal devastation.
