This is cinema reduced or distilled to its purest definition, of movies that move
James Berardinelli
This movie is a complete bore.
Alex Pappademas
There's nothing here you haven't seen before.
Marc Bernardin
You wouldn't think a movie called Need For Speed would feel so slow.
Richard Roeper
It's like watching someone ELSE play a video game for more than two hours. That gets old real fast.
Ignatiy Vishnevetsky
Though later sequences lean a little too heavily on contemporary car flick clichés ... they are all nonetheless informed by a gee-whiz appreciation for gleaming cars and stunt driving ingenuity.

Need For Speed fails spectacularly on so many levels, it almost begs you to bring back the hyperactive, overacting Nicolas Cage for Drive Angry 2. Almost.

NEED FOR SPEED Aaron Paul gives his greatest performance since Breaking Bad.The story, the racing scenes, the chemistry between main characters and supporting cast was top notch.Michael Keating gives a jaw dropping performance as MONARCH, THE MAN WHO CREATES THE DELEON,an illegal street race where the winners get to keep. Everyone else's cars, and we ain't talking chevelles and GTOS,WE'RE TALKIN MILLION DOLLAR. WORKS OF ART Seen it at least three hundred times. Loved it more. Every time
From my game console to the big screen. When I heard and saw the trailer for this movie I was skeptical. You see many racing films with basically the same story line and almost all of them suck. This movie however pulled it off. This movie is great. The story line stuck through the whole movie, it has great actors/actresses and the cars are all sexy. It has become one of my favorite movies this year. If there's a sequel it better hold up to the original.
Triple Threat As a movie fan, Need for Speed fan and a Ford Mustang fan. This movie is AWESOME! The chase scenes were reminiscent of dare I say it.The original Gone in 60 seconds with Vanishing Point,Smokey an the Bandit added for good over the top sexyness. Rarely do you see on the big screen a Mustang play leading character, NFS pulls it off nicely. If you are looking for a plot, a story line, look elsewhere. But if the sound of a blower screaming, heart pounding speed is your thing, this movie is for you.
For the people getting tired of FF story and just want some good racing. I really don't understand why people are giving this movie such a bad review. Let me put it to you this way since people expect movies to be pretty quick and action packed nowadays. This movie was made for the people who grew up playing this franchise and enjoy a some intense loud racing with cars that are not heavily modified to fit the kids of today's times. Split this movie up into two parts; the plot, which I will include the characters in and the action sequences. Plot wise, the movie is decent, it is in fact kinda slow, with many of the characters being cheesy at some points within the movie. You cannot compare this plot to the FF franchise because it is made to be much simpler... to make a bigger emphasis on this. The racing is NFS's finest and most unique aspect. Unlike FF, which is mainly people shifting relentlessly over and over and over again, NFS is exactly what racing fans want. Real stunts, real cars, and the racing to be seen, not zooming in and out of the cock pits every 5 mins. Watch this movie if you want an amazing movie about cars, with actual cars that do the actual stunts. It is as amazing as Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift (best one of the series)
Aaron Paul's Best Performance Yet!!!!! I was very excited to see this film which prior to public release I saw. The trailer was great and this movie lived up to its hype. The story line was kinda asstray some parts but it kept it going! Aaron Paul as Tobey Marshall was great have never seen him put so much hard work into such a role! Breaking Bad was great this is better!! The ending is phenomenal!! Show me where to go see the sequel!! Give me Need for Speed 2!!!😃
Surprisingly good Going into this movie I had many doubts but I was pleasantly surprised. I thought it would be all crazy racing and no real plot. The plot was not only present but entertaining. Not to mention, Aaron Paul is an extremely passionate actor. However it did lack some curve balls (the story was mostly predictable) it made up for that in quality. Btw notice I said "mostly predictable" up there, there was one thing that was very good and caught me off guard. Overall a very entertaining and fun movie. RECOMMENDED.
Amazing Fast and Furious lost its touch with racing in its seek for action. This redelivers what a racing movie is all about. Incredible sound, real stunts, real cars, real crashes. And so much racing. Beautiful camera angles everywhere. The cars are breathtaking. I'd recommend to anyone who needs to see a good racing movie again.
Awesome movie! I had my doubt since most game to movie adaptations are not the best, but this movie makes sense. Has a good back story as to why the hero is in the race and how he gets there and it's never a dull moment as well as not just a vroom the end. Aaron Paul did a great job, if you love need for speed you will love this movie.
Good Movie Action, no green screens. Plot is great. Only part that didn't make sense was when they fueled on the road. They could've just stopped, cause when he had to fuel they got caught. But great movie overall.Aaron Paul's excellent performance was astonishing. Awesome combination of style, action, and great cars. Very impressive work.
This is how f&f should have been done. They managed to get everything we loved in the game into this movie. Great action scenes with a great story that makes you care for the characters until the end. The only thing I thought about this movie that was going to be bad is that it started out so predictable what is going to happen, a few unexpected twists when I was about to lose interest. I am a person who only watches a movie once and thats it, few movies I have watched more then once ever, I have watched this 2 times in a row instant classic.
Decent Car Movie If it wasn't for Aaron Paul, I would have passed. This movie drags out for a while with an uninteresting story thats derived directly from previous games. There is only so much that can be done with a story in a car movie, so obviously the focus shoukd be the cars. It would be like putting the focus on the story of a porn. Problem is, this movie did exactly that. The cars in the movie are worth seeing, plus the game is a Ford commercial. Its worth a watch if you like Aaron Paul and cars.
