Olympus Has Fallen is made from action-movie mix. Just add sweat.
Guy Lodge
The thrills and the effects are cheap, but this is in hard-driving, good-humoured command of its own silliness.
Drew Hunt
This ludicrous actioner strives to be as loud, violent, and patriotic as possible.
David Denby
Fuqua doesn't deliver on what he has set up.
David Edelstein
The carnage is cruel and crude.
Robert Abele
A typical slab of Hollywood action in which the White House crumbles under attack, the American flag is tattered and tossed aside by baddies, and clichés rise like gods.

Best movie in a long time!!! This movie is unbelievably nonstop action packed! It starts out in a heart breaking way, but it's necessary to setup the plot of the main character Gerard Butler. This is an on the edge of your seat thrill ride to say the least. It's so realistic it's scary. I wouldn't be surprised if the real White House didn't review their protocols & procedures after seeing this. An actual former lead secret service agent was a consultant on the film to keep it as close to real as possible without compromising security

Patriotism If you are pro america than this movie is for you. The story isnt sound. It starts out with an important man in love with his family, and a man brought in to love this mans family. The man that serves the family lets them down and feels regret, but at the end of the movie finds no closure. Its not about a conflicted man but a man letting his country down. It is as almost the family member that was lost was nothing compared to the desicretion of our nation. Acting was good and action sequences were as well. Rent but dont buy.

Definitely action packed Maybe not Oscar worthy but a guy flick for sure. Gerard Butler is the hottest actor around these days and Morgan Freeman is one of my favorites too. If you want to watch a crappy movie, see White House Down. Complete copycat movie of Olympus Has Fallen and doesn't even come close to reality. Tatum, Foxx, and Woods should be ashamed of themselves. With renting or buying.

Patriotic: As it should be Commonly, reviews on this film call it predictable and action packed. Although, yes, it is predictable, I couldn't help but to thoroughly enjoy watching America triumph over its opposition. If you're even slightly patriotic or enjoy watching Gerard Butler in his finest action movie persona then I suggest giving this try. It's the perfect 'steak and beer' kind of movie.

This is an out and out entertainer, don't think too much, just enjoy. The best thing about this movie is its pace. You won't know how fast the 110 minutes go. The attack sequences are fantastic, but it lacks the complexity of best selling movies. Gerard Butler does what he does best, fight bad guys. Aaron Eckhart as the stern faced president reminds you of Harvey Dent. Morgan Freeman probably is there to strengthen the star value in the film. But its the villain Rick Yune with his evil smile who impresses.

Shrug Did this movie actually come out in theaters? I ask because it felt like a made-for-tv movie. The acting was decent, and there was plenty of action, but the script was predictable and far-fetched at best, with plenty of unnecessary and distracting side plots that felt like filler to make a poorly written story last longer. That and the not so special effects made me glad I was able to watch this movie for free on Netflix and not waste my money on it.

Meh. I can't say I liked this move at all. The acting was fine, but it stumbled it's way through a weak plot device. Honestly, I can't stand movies that consistently portray the American military as incompetent for as long as it takes the enemy to achieve whatever objective they need to do for the movie to continue. The previews make the takeover of the Whitehouse seem plausible, while the actual film make the Secret Service look like a bunch of clowns piling out the door. This movie ended with an extreme patriotic theme, which was gag worthy. Gerard Butler was good, as was Morgan Freeman obviously. But the plot was weak, the fight scenes were standard and all in all it was a grey movie. Move along.

Bad..no really horrible Because of a really good starcast we started watching the movie and kept giving the writer and director concession that let them take the white house and then they will start making sense and logic. None of these things can happen in real life. Colossal waste of good actors and even worse waste of our time. It's one of the worst illogical movie we have seen and THE worst President/White house related production ever. Can not imagine anyone keeping so many logical holes in any story. Please do not watch.

GREAT HIGHLY Recommend Absolutely great movie. Its rare these days to see so much over the top action in a movie without it drowning the acting and script. Yeah there were few scenes and lines that were how can I put it , CRAP. But all films have them. there isnt a perfect movie. No such thing. This was definately worth renting or buying thou, I promise u will be satisfied !

One Star is Too High This movie is nothing more than abysmally unrealistic, dismally sensationalistic garbage. The takeover could never happen, and anyone who knows anything about U.S. defense infrastructure will agree. This movie was obviously made to push a political agenda, and is a completely shameless, senseless departure from reality, not to mention an abandonment of intelligent filmmaking.

basically perfect thought it was gonna suck. for all intents and purposes though, it is perfect. absolutely f'ing awesome. one of my favorite movies now. extra points for any movie that works the title into the dialogue. (secret service agent bleeding out, crawling away from gunman inside the White House heavily breathing "Olympus has fallen."
