Must be rated 0 stars! I love Disney and films.Nothing but poor story line. A lot worst then Alice in wonderland, I must say the effect in some area is great but mostly cheesy as it get. It was long and not to the point. The witch looks like from a low budget film or say generic film. This has to be the best bad film Disney made in history. They didn't keep it original and classic. I'm not being a hater but stop hiring un-skills people to make Disney. Where are the group of people who made "Brave"? I hope they will a turd award's

Painful I like Franco and Mila as actors so I had a hard time understanding why this movie was so painful to watch. Utterly predictable, extremely obvious pop out of the screen annoying 3D effects, and a cast that really did not give much effort.
Dru Stewart
A "Good" show. Well worth it. Everyone was so hard on the acting....It was supposed to be the way it was. A good show for a lazy Saturday morning with good morals, a fun cast, and a good story line. It wasn't bad at all.
Trevor Brown
Amazing 3D, miserable execution The 3d (I watched this with glasses) was amazing but the story had tons of cheap child-targeting cheap laughs and the lesson of the story was terrible. Wonderful acting, terrible script.

Bad Acting; Worse Dialogue; It's a Pattern This movie does no justice to the original Wizard of Oz. It will never exist as an artistic piece in its own right -- in fact, watching it felt like watching a movie version of some fanfiction. It had zero character development, and the attempt at Oz' development was awful. I regret all four dollars I spent on it.

Casting was at fault. Why was Steve Zahn not asked to be the lead. He would have nailed it. Rachel Weitz was excellent in her role, but Mila Kunis is not believable as the ww of the East. One of the Pannebakers would have been better (they look like Weitz and can pulloff the sweet to nasty transformation much better). Great storyline, but the effort from the leads fell flat.

God painful This is barely a 3 star movie and definitely not 5 stars. Based on the classic but fails to deliver. This prequel is moronic. Franco couldn't help save this. Felt like he slept through this role. Plot had more holes than swiss cheese and the witches were annoying and dubious women who can't make up their minds. Either that or they were all in heat. Someone please mash the porcelain doll.

I hate it This is up there with the worst movies I've seen. The moral arc or lessons presented here are depressing. I feel worse about the world having seen this. I can't believe this is for children. Not that I hate formulas in theory, it's that I hate when companies have so little respect for the audience!

CGI sequences well done! For a fantasy film catering to the young and the young at heart, this was very good! If u'r looking 4 a deep, quasi-literary film with layers of intricate plot sequences to dissect, this film isn't 4 u. The film is meant to be a light and imaginative tale to thrill those who love fairy-tales.

Watchable, held back by excessive CG The story was entertaining and James Franco is a great actor and is always entertaining, managing to maintain his character in the face of almost nothing to act against besides a green screen much of time. The trend of CG used to fantastic excess managed to drag down an otherwise totally entertaining film - the moments of not-quite motion-matched interaction with computer generated co-stars, or Franco floating just slightly odd above an entirely cg background really interfere with the suspension of disbelief required for such a film. It's not that the computer work was bad either, it's just not-quite-real, falling into the uncanny valley between completely real and obviously fake. Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland suffered a similar problem, CG for no reason, when physical effects would be much more believable (and probably more economical too). Kids will probably love it though, and they're more likely the target audience for this movie. It's worth a watch, I'd say but isn't likely to creep out from under the shadow of the original 1939 classic.
The negative reviews are from soulless people. Here's what I liked about this movie: -It DID successfully capture the feel of the first. It was whimsical, colorful, fun, lighthearted, never too serious, and fun to watch. - It was very entertaining. There were a few scenes that I actually found thrilling, and the special effects were almost top notch. There are two completely cgi characters and one of them looked totally real. The movie was also very funny. -It ISN'T a musical. Yay :-) The one thing I didn't like: -Meg Griffin's voice :-[
Terrible My real names Natalie i'm 11 and well this movie sucks eggs would give it no star but won't let me i found many problems with this movie acting is 2nd worse I've ever seen poorly written story I mean whoever wrote the story is super untalented I think there were many completly OBNAUXOUS characters (finley the flying monkey HINT* HINT*) I didn't like when Theodora got turned into the wiked witch of the west cause I liked her better than glinda and oz was just a big fat liar and more of a bad than a good

Forgettable Saw this one with a couple of buddies, I wasn't expecting much going into the theater, and - lo and behold - my expectations were met. The flying monkey is the best part about the film, and in the end, it teaches you that if someone "breaks your heart", always go on a murderous rampage as an evil green witch instead of trying to solve your problems.

One word. Incredible. Thank you Sam Raimi:'''') and Joey king as China doll girl=the greatest and sweetest Disney secondary character. And by the way that character is NOT at ALL CG,it was all wirework and puppeteering mixed with the adorable and incredible little actress Joey King:)) I felt everyone was fantastic including James Franco, Rachel Weisz and more. And I loved Mila Kunis's version of the wwotw although I wish she was shown more:''( and if you are a Sam Raimi fan you will LOVE the fact that Bruce C appeare

Terrible... acting, pacing... well, just about everything... I actually had low expectations going into this movie, and I was still disappointed. The acting was terrible which is perplexing, because it had a pretty good cast. Maybe it was the director? ... not really sure... Save your time and rent another movie. The only good part in this movie was the smoke special effects when James Franco became the (fake) wizard of Oz.
Great movie! An excellent performance from James Franco in a delightful prequel to the Judy Garland classic from the thirties. Those who have not seen the original Wizard of Oz may not have the background to thoroughly relish the plot twists and decorative rifs the well crafted and designed final product offers, but to the great fan base of the original this movie is a total treat. Worthy of any classic library of DVDs, it will entertain you for many repeat viewings.

No place like OZ So many people criticizing the work of art this movie is. All a right to opinion, but.. You cannot compare this to the original. You can appreciate it in it's own right. I believe it to be an excellent prequel, that very well captured the whole 'land of OZ' likeness, and expanded on that world. Appreciated the resemblances to the original, and believed all decided actors were perfect in their portrayals. Like really, what are people looking for? All of the complaining seems mindless and irrational.
