School Teacher Satyakant Shastri (Mithun Chakraborty) has two children, Surya (Akshay Kumar) and Shiv. After Surya brawls with another child multiple times and eventually kills him, Satyakant kicks him out of the family and disowns him. Years later, Shiv (Shiv Pandit) grows up as a dear son to his father, and also the only son as neither him or his dad have seen Surya for years.

Based in Cape Town, specializing in divorces, Jeet Oberoi warns his friends, Karan Malhotra and Bhavesh Patel, about the many disadvantages of being involved in a married relationship. He indicates that marriages result in divorce, if it is a love marriage then the groom digs his grave; and if is an arranged marriage, it is the groom's family that dig his grave. Scoffing at this, Karan gets married with his sweetheart, Sanjana Jugran, much to the chagrin of her dad; while conservative Bhavesh travels to Vishwamitri, Gujarat, along with his entire family, and gets married to a liberal Prachi Jadeja. Incompatibility issues will soon surface, compelling the duo to retain Jeet as legal counsel to expedite their respective divorce proceedings.

From Ravi, the house is taken over by a Haryanvi Jaat named Rajpal (Vishal Sharma) who turns out to be a cross dressing Kathak Dancer. Bizarrely the house then lands in to the hands of a tribal family from Mizoram. What transpired in those thirty days, does Sudha Mishra ever find out and what is the mystery of the witch woman are the questions that we are left with.

When Inspector Mahadev Bhosale (Sanjay Dutt) is asked by his seniors to form a hit squad to take on the Mumbai underworld, he recruits Shiv Narayan (Rana Daggubati), an honest and brave police officer who had been suspended for an encounter killing. Together, Mahadev and Shiv along with others in the "Department" take on underworld don Sawatya (Vijay Raaz) and his gang. Sawatya, inspite of many exhortations by his number two, D.K.(Abhimanyu Singh) and D.K's fiesty girlfriend, Naseer (Madhu Shalini), does not hit back at the police.

Once there, he begins his investigation by visiting highly sensitive areas such as Jama Masjid, Dardpura Village and Rainawari Chowk. He is accompanied by a tailor, Char Chinar, who sells uniforms to both militants and the under paid military soldiers. Vikram meets up with Aziza Abbas Ansari, and her mentor, Haji Sayyed Shah, an aspiring political leader, Aatif Hussain. It is after these meetings that he will conclude who is behind the extremism in this beautiful yet 'most dangerous place on Earth'.
