Mind-bending thrillers like Primer are terrific viewing with your teenagers. Maybe if you're nice, they'll explain the ending to you.
J. R. Jones
Scary, puzzling, and different.
Jessica Winter
This film imagines its viewers to be smart, possessed of a decent attention span and game for a challenge. It doesn't happen all that often.
Leah McLaren
An unapologetically cerebral movie of ideas.
Peter Howell
It's one thing to admire what writer/director/composer/actor Shane Carruth wrought on his $1.98 digicam budget; it's quite another to have to sit through the mind-numbing results.
Rene Rodriguez
The ingenious debut of writer-director Shane Carruth, who assembled the film on his home computer and also plays one of the two leads, is purposely designed to be a little bewildering.

It takes a lot for a movie to surprise today's jaded, seen-it, bought-the- PlayStation-version sci-fi fan. Primer can. Let it.

So much from so little Great film that easily melds reality with what drive travel could possibly be like. A down-to-earth vibe, catchy basic soundtrack, and error narration make this truly original movie a timeless B-movie classic. However. Caruth's non-stop pessimistic , moody attitude, and the 2 main characters wearing business shirts and ties through the whole movie definately detract. Also, some cute, nerdy chics thrown in would be nice.

Just....AWESOME Saw this film a few years ago online. I was just doing a Wikipedia search for time travel movies and stumbled onto this gem. Needless to say, I was not disappointed. While the movie doesn't spoonfeed yo as the viewer with information, if you pay close attention, it makes sense and at the end you come away feeling satisfied and wanting Kore intelligent science fiction such as this.

Interesting... The movie is touted as science fiction/fantasy but really it's a low-budget scifi thriller, which is mind-bending at times, but sometimes a bit confusing if you aren't following closely (and/or don't understand the math) But that's how time travel really is, isn't it? I mean think about it... If you could actually travel through time, there are so many variables to consider you'd probably just break the universe.

Best time travel movie I know that's a lot to claim, especially for a movie supposedly made on $7,000, but it's really the best time travel movie I've ever seen. Hang in there during the slow start. You'll be begging for a mental breather soon enough. Don't watch it with friends who want to jabber. You'll need all the focus you can muster.

Probably the best time travel movie I saw this movie on IFC one day and loved it, I had never heard of it before but I loved the idea of the flim and the acting was good. I happened to stumble across it in the play store and had to pick up the sd version since it wasn't on Netflix but I see it is on hulu+ so I'll have to watch it a few more times. If you like this you'll probably like his new film "upstream color" which I guess takes place in the Primer universe.

you might need a IQ of 190 to understand this movie. this is the most difficult movie to ever follow the movie includes people going back in time to drug them self. recording of conversation to send to the past. 3 guys that have a total of 10 version of them selves in 11+ timelines. but here are tips for understanding the plot. 1.turn on subtitle 2. don't be on any other device.(phone, laptop, tablet, etc) 3. pause the movie to think about what just happen in the plot. 4.rewind to see what just happen if you don't know what just happen. 5.go on a artical to see a explanation of the movie.
