Prometheus is scary only in the sum of instincts and talent for movie-making that have been lost.
David Denby
The movie may be a scare show that leaves many questions unanswered, but Scott's craft earns an exhausted kind of respect.
Richard Roeper
Brilliant. Epic. Haunting. Grotesque. Great.
Joshua Rothkopf
The setup is familiar-the mysterious planet, the slick tunnels, the shocking bodily violation, the broken quarantine, etc. So why is there a gaping hole where the dread should be?
David Edelstein
Prometheus tells a much bigger story and does it well, but it's missing what matters most. It's inorganic.
Rick Groen
There's definite mastery here, but it's hardly a masterpiece.

Prometheus--like, in its telling, the human race itself--is a creation spliced from the DNA of superior forebears.

Brilliant film There are a whole liot of negative reviews for the movie from a lot of people who have probably never seen or don't appreciate the original alien films. I have been waiting for a very long time for Prometheus. It was perfect. Ridley and co did an amazing job. The best scifi film I have seen in a VERY long time must buy on bluray with director's cut asap.

Atrocious Perhaps this is more easily watched as a fan of the franchise; I'm not particularly knowledgeable about the series in general. Ridiculous caricatures ping pong from one stupid and unbelievable action to the next in a film where Ridley Scott replaced plot with symbolism. Does it make sense? Doesn't matter! It's layered with subtext! You don't get to have subtext unless your text isn't stupid. This movie only works as satire, and in that case I'd give it 3 stars.
Pretty good movie For the people who say the movie left a lot of questions unanswered, you just weren't paying attention. Wasn't the best movie I've seen, but it was still pretty good. Very good addition to the Alien story

Visually stunning I enjoy this movie immensely for so many reasons, many of which are due to features of the movie which I do not believe were intended by its creators. I think that the movie was fatally flawed by its production process, which I learned about from comicbookgirl19 on YouTube. Yet I love this movie because its mystery is highly stimulating. I do not want to understand or know the answers its characters were striving for. This movie is a severed sentence. It's a Lovecraftian adventure where the end result is the revelation of nothing save the fact that we humans cannot and will not ever fathom the immensity of the cosmos and the terrors which lie in in the dark corners of space and our even darker collective past.
Not a prequel eh? Just a little detail I picked up on. The story itself takes place on the same little planet they landed on in the first alien. If you watch the screen in the beginning detailing the planet, it's the same. The ship that crashed? No, that wasn't the derelict ship. But paying attention to the film they specifically said that there were maybe hundreds of those ships on the planet. Plot holes? More like simply unanswered questions. I enjoy that Ridley said it wasn't a prequel, but that just doesn't see plausible. Too many things tying together. I loved the movie as a huge buff of the movies and the books and eagerly await the next installment in the series. ^_^ Enjoy yourselves!
Good movie. Robert, ur remark was very out of place. I'm suprised how quick u are to judge someone's intelligence based on whether they like the movie or not. Also, have u read ur statement after typing it? That's rhetorical, of course u haven't. By the way, YALL, good movie. Lol
Not Bad First off the effects were great. Secondly for everyone talking about its alien connection, the only time Alien appears in this movie is in a mural otherwise there is no "Alien". For everyone who is upset by that fact (myself included) this is not Ridley Scotts fault. He wanted alien in there but 20th century fox demanded he remove all Alien ties so blame them. Otherwise is was very interesting and the unanswered questions simply leave room for speculation. Overall worth watching.
One of the Great Sci-fi movies ever made I find it amusing that people would give this classic 1 star or say it sucked. The story is drawn on thousands of years of myth and legend created by our ancestors. You idiots were looking for a movie that fed you everything in an age of fb and twitter. The movie is really more about time travel vs aliens killing humans. You want that type of garbage go watch this movies predecessors. Plot holes? Are you joking? "How was Shaw able to run after surgery" she stabbed herself with a shot. Watch it again!
Worth watching? No. Special effects ranged from great to fair and the story had long periods where if you went to the kitchen and made some coffee you wouldn't have missed anything. Too many of the typical Hollywood clichés such as stick your hand out to an unknown alien life form, stand and stare at something deadly right in front of you and run straight down the path of falling objects. Way too predictable. The worst of the Alien series no doubt. I really expected better.

The Movie made no sense. The first guy populated the Earth by disintegrating his DNA. Then they find one surviving Alien on a ship who wants to go back all these years later and destroy what he made. Yet we were advanced enough to crash into his ship. He has no communication with his own kind. This is probably the worst movie I ever saw because if it had a good plot and proper explanations to simple things it could have been good. I think Ridly Scott was on Acid or Angel dust. I also bet he never watched the final product!
If I could give it no stars, I would. No, you know what? -5!!!!!!! This movie was a disgrace to the Alien quad trilogy. I heard they were supposed to make another one. You don't see a Xenomorph until the very end of the movie. And the alien looked stupid. The only good thing about the movie is that I know how the Face huggers lay the embryo in the chest. Otherwise, DO NOT WATCH!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great Effects... That's about it. Character development, behavior/reactions, dialog, acting, plot in general... All seemed lack luster at best and too many gaps to maintain coherency. Poorly done in almost ever aspect except the scenery, soundboard, and actual filming. Editors probably did their best with what they were given, poor crew.
Looks good, sounds bad This is one of those movies that the trailer was better than the movie. The visuals were stunning. The plot, characters, and storyline for were sub par at best. They took the best scenes from the earlier movies, strung them together. Added nothing new, that was good, and called it a day.
Just plain bad Poorly written, little to no plot...visually fantastic but ruined by the lacking dialogue and substance

Excellently cast and thrilling to watch. Science fiction and action at their best. This introduction to the alien universe left me wanting more and excited about the remaining story and the implications of what is to come. A lot is left unsaid as from the get go things seem to be going from bad to worse in the classic "what can go wrong next" theme.

Excitement I love this movie and did not expect it to be tied into The Alien Movies but it was a great surprise to me. The plot was Good. It only left 2 unanswered questions for me. 1: Why did they create us only to want to destroy us ? 2 : How did Alien species get off that planet ? I guess that's what sequels are made for people. They should also make a movie that shows how the predator species found the Alien species and why The Predator Species never came across the Alpha Humans species or did they ?
Cool I liked this movie even though, I expected so much more out of it. I didn't understand some of what was going on, although I thought the rest was good, It had some plot holes.
Not a true prequel to Alien For people thinking this is a true prequel to the Alien franchise you are mistaken. Alien takes place on LV-426 while this movie is set on LV-223. Overall its an amazing horror scifi. It'll keep you on the edge of your seat wondering what is going to happen next. This is one of the best movies since Avatar in my opinion. If you don't watch Prometheus you'll be missing out on an amazing movie
Simply a vehicle for creature designs If plot and production budget in the service of the creature dept is your thing, watch. Good execution overall but the base story concept sucks. Also what is up with Hollywood linking SciFi and horror in every SciFi flick? I mean OK where appropriate, and maybe nowhere better for this than alien, but let's have more alien 2 please? When horror design and creature design obfuscate if this is an independent storyline or not then you have a problem. For example us alien fans waited the whole movie for our alien to appear, in vain. One is left with the impression that using the existing alien species would have given the creature dept nothing to do.

Singularity Principle
Synopsis: Singularity Principle is a feature length science-fiction film about the consequences of renegade experiments into Parallel Universes. Co-written and directed by Austin Hines and by physicist Dr. David Deranian, the film pays particular attention to accurate scientific detail and uses the fascinating science of parallel universes to bring audiences a story that will both illuminate and entertain.
The story starts off with the disappearance of noted scientist Professor Jack Brenner (John Diehl) during a fateful parallel universe experiment. Jack's protege, Dr. Peter Tanning (Michael Denis) is being interrogated by Dr. Lawrence Cason (William B. Davis) of a clandestine Black-Ops Agency to learn about the experiment and to find out what happened to Jack Brenner. Lawrence makes it clear that he wants to know everything about the experiment, including how parallel universes can be manipulated.
The story unfolds with Peter describing the events of the experiment up to the fateful day where Jack Brenner disappears. Lawrence pushes Peter relentlessly to tell what happened but also recounts his own past with Jack Brenner. This is all in an effort to persuade Peter to work for the Agency, continuing his research for the Agency's interests which involve controlling gateways to, and the people in, other universes.
The filmmakers of Singularity Principle are excited to be working with Big Screen Entertainment Group for the promotion and distribution of this ground breaking science-fiction film on Parallel Universes.
