Joe Williams
Perhaps the saddest thing about the film is the thought that nobody raised in Rich Hill could have made it.
Kyle Smith
The title is a woozy irony: The three high-school boys portrayed in the documentary "Rich Hill" will never be rich, though this gently heartbreaking film certainly is.
David Edelstein
Every shot, every second among these people -- even at their most unattractive -- makes you feel for them and loathe the world in which they're enmeshed.
Nicolas Rapold
An intimately observant look at individual children and the details of their daily lives and personalities.
Joe Neumaier
Inside these average American lives are futures far too often passed over or, worse, written off. This terrific film gives the teenagers their due.
A.A. Dowd
The movie exists mainly as an act of social advocacy, showing how one portion of the population lives and offering a sobering rebuke to pull-yourself-up-by-your-bootstraps rhetoric.

Lacks in-depth coverage Although the topic of this documentary seemed promising, and the story of these three boys is heartbreaking, it seemed as if the filmmakers never made a strong statement of anything besides "poverty is bad." While true, since they spent a year with these boys it seems as if a stronger stand or angle should have been taken--looking at health issues, education, the justice system, parenting, etc. could have made this more powerful.
Product of their environment and parents Terrible. One of the kids had a family and good support and goals. Other two just a waste of oxygen and space....proves stupid people should not breed and that how they act and allowing their kids to smoke at 13 and 14 in the house....I mean really....set standards and goals for your children.....shows why America is headed down the wrong road.......

Between the Buried and Me: Future Sequence - Live at the Fidelitorium
The concept behind "Future Sequence: Live at the Fidelitorium" is in contrast with Between the Buried and Me's ambitious and impressive live stage production. This video features the band in a small studio setting in which they perform "The Parallax II: Future Sequence" album in its entirety at the Fidelitorium outside Winston-Salem, NC.
No No: A Dockumentary
NO NO: A DOCKUMENTARY tells the story of Dock Ellis who, on June 12, 1970, pitched a no-hitter for the Pittsburgh Pirates. In 137 years of organized professional baseball, it’s the only no-hitter tossed while the pitcher was on LSD. Dock was often embroiled in controversy on and off the field. While professional baseball hadn’t fully embraced racial equality, he was an outspoken leader who lived the expression ‘Black is Beautiful!’ His fearlessness enabled him to become one of the most intimidating pitchers of the 70’s and a trailblazer for a new wave of civil rights. After retiring, Dock became as outspoken about his career-spanning substance abuse issues as he had been about intolerance. He spent decades utilizing his brash approach as a counselor, helping other addicts in their recoveries. Through intimate stories and a trove of archival footage, NO NO: A DOCKUMENTARY brings Dock’s vibrant life to light, burnishing the legend and revealing the man behind it.
The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill
An "engrossing, delightful film" (The Washington Post), The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill is the bonafide sleeper theatrical hit of the year. The film's endearing guide is Mark Bittner, an aging bohemian, but the supporting cast members, a rambunctious flock of urban parrots, are the true stars, and their surprisingly humanlike behavior makes for a wondrous and rare experience. The film follows the ups-and-downs of these wild birds within the green niches of San Francisco as Bittner befriends, feeds, and names the members of the flock. Along the way, we meet many unforgettable characters: among them Connor, the grouchy yet lovable outcast of the flock, crying for a mate but luckless in his pursuits, and "the lovers," Picasso and Sophie, inseparable until Sophie is forced into mourning when Picasso disappears. More than a mere birdwatcher, Bittner finds solace in his immersion with these strikingly beautiful creatures - but how will he cope when he's evicted from his sanctuary and forced to live away from the parrots? Packed with romance, comedy and a surprise ending that "makes you feel like you could fly out of the theater" (San Jose Mercury News), THE WILD PARROTS OF TELEGRAPH HILL shows just how wondrously similar the human and animal worlds really can be. Disneynature: Bears
From Disneynature, the studio that brought you Earth and Chimpanzee, comes Bears - an epic story of breathtaking scale. Set against a majestic Alaskan backdrop, their journey begins as winter ends. Emerging from hibernation, the three face the bitter cold and an exciting but very risky outside world. Korengal
Korengal picks up where Restrepo left off; the same men, the same valley, the same commanders, but a very different look at the experience of war. Korengal explains how war works, what it feels like and what it does to the young men who fight it. As one soldier cheers when he kills an enemy fighter, another looks into the camera and asks if God will ever forgive him for all of the killing he has done. As one soldier grieves the loss of his friend in combat, another explains why he misses the war now that his deployment has ended, and admits he would go back to the front line in a heartbeat. Every bit as intense and affecting as Restrepo, Korengal goes a step further in bringing the war into people's living rooms back home.
