Richard Roeper
Less-than-compelling storyline.

Rise of the Guardians is harmless enough, and the lack of easy pop-culture jokes represents the post-Shrek direction of DreamWorks well enough. But this is the studio's least entertaining film.
Peter Rainer
The conceit has its charms but too much of this movie, directed by Peter Ramsey, is more clamorous than inspired, and little kids might find parts of it too scarily intense.
Derek Adams
'Rise of the Guardians' is an effervescent dose of fantasia that's pretty hard to dislike. Unless, of course, you're a cynical grump.
Joe Morgenstern
The script seems to have been written by committee, with members lobbying for each major character, and the action, set in vast environments all over the map, spreads itself so thin that a surfeit...
Stephanie Zacharek
Too cluttered and manic to bring real pleasure.

Absolutely Beautiful Even at 18 I love any animation DreamWorks or Disney since I was a younger child, but this movie is amazing and so creative! The graphics are beautiful, the story is beautiful, and it will keep you interested the entire time! Definitely a movie for the entire family! Especially around Christmas time since, although the movie has Easter themes and such, I felt Christmas or "winter" was the biggest theme seeing as though Jack Frost is the main protagonist. Enjoy!

Naughty And Nice I fell in love with this as the great holiday film that one can watch at any time of the year. Jack Frost is a fun character as the embodiment of winter time childish mischief while the other Guardians are very nicely fleshed out characters. Santa Claus as a Russian with tattoos and beefy arms was easily my favourite character of the bunch. The neurotic Tooth Fairy and overly serious Easter Bunny are fun as well. The enigmatic Sandman is silent through the film but it fits his character perfectly; he IS the bringer of sleep, after all. The villain may scare small children but I thought that he was pretty convincing in a Night On Bald Mountain sort of way. Kids will love the silly interactions between the Guardians and the slick action sequences. Adults will love the irony of a tattooed, brusque Santa and will also appreciate the lore of this interesting world where the Moon plays the part of a god-like being. Rent this and, if your kids don't pee their pants over the villain, you will agree that it is worth purchasing.
