Andrea Gronvall
Joss Whedon makes a rousing feature-directing debut, exploiting the cult status of his short-lived series Firefly to continue it on the big screen.
Nick Funnell
The settings and tone are hyper-real, yet the human behaviour is grounded and credible, the moral conflicts complex and involving. Shiny, intelligent fun.
Ken Tucker
Go out and see Joss Whedon's witty whizbang of an action movie, or we will kill a kitten.
Richard Roeper
It has a great sense of humor about it, an attractive cast and it's just a lot of fun.
Tasha Robinson
Taut, immersive, and alternately hilarious and heartbreaking, a well-balanced blend of whooping Wild West action and space opera.
James Berardinelli
Serenity isn't about effects. It's about narrative and characters, and it does a solid job in both areas.

Best movie of a canceled show EVER! What I liked about Firefly is that you needn't have to watch the series to get the movie. If you know show then this was the perfect closure to the series. If you are just coming in on it, you are in for a wonderful Sci-fi treat. Of course I'm a Browncoat and hate the Alliance with a passion so Mal and Zoey are my heros! You are in for a treat if you don't know this franchise!

With all the masses of garbage on tv no room for GREATNESS? Serenity was our consolation prize for what should have been many happy years of Firefly and surely movies and perhaps other spin offs to boot. It was the most original, creative, fun, interesting and just flat out entertaining story in Sci Fi since star trek. This movie ties up a some ends and kills off a few friends so you can finally accept that firefly is never coming back. It is a great movie, a worthy tombstone to Firefly. Dead before it's time.

Wow, a sci-fi movie that is actually really fun and entertaining Not shallow and dumb, thanks Sci-Fi Channel. To put my and my wife's enjoyment of this movie into perspective, we had no knowledge of the TV show whatsoever going into our viewing. Despite that, we had no problem following the film's story or getting involved with the characters. The storyline has some Richard Matheson-type vibes that deepens the plot a little more than you might expect from an action-oriented sci-fi movie. The action itself is very fun and exciting, especially the very well-paced finale that has it all (quick but intense space battle, small band of rebels versus hordes of baddies, mano-a-mano fight, one versus hoarde Matrix-style fight, etc). Despite it containing plenty of sci-fi cliches the movie is still thoroughly enjoyable. I said I probably wouldn't go backwards to the TV series after seeing this, but eventually I did and kinda wished I hadn't; the movie is almost better standalone. However, I'd be a big fan of a Serenity sequel to see where they could go with some of these characters and the world they inhabit.
Fox: Dumbest Executives EVER Firefly is argueably one of the best shows ever made. Serenity just gave it the clean ending fans were looking for. Cancelling firefly was an epic mistake and shows how short-sighted TV exec's are. Its really sad. If you haven't seen firefly, its on Netflix or you can rent it I'm sure but see it. Its the most smartly written show that's been out in a long time. Or go back to watching mind-numbing reality shows...
I love this movie. I watch a lot of movies, but I rarely watch any movie more than once (if I have a choice). If I have seen a movie then I know what is going to happen in it, and there is little to no entertainment value left for me. However, this movie is entertaining every time I watch it. I even have my girlfriend hooked on this movie. Its funny, sad, imaginative, scary (for some people. **coughs** **wimps**), has a great amount of action, and a phenomenal storyline. Enjoy!!!

The Spirit of Han Solo Mal, a smuggler in a beat-up old ship from a rebel force with disdain for the imperial rulers who owes everyone money. Zoe, second in command and the muscle is basically Chewbacca. The character types are so familiar but the story as a follow on to the TV series provides closure without being pandering. Excellent!

One of a kind Never before has a series/feature captured the humanity and purpose of every character that walked onto the set. Firefly has touched more hearts than any other series that has ever graced the screen. Serenity gave the fans what they needed to quench their thirst for answers, however if Joss Whedon truly wants to please his fans, he NEEDS to reignite the series once and for all. WE ARE GETTING THIRSTY!
Browncoat for life I'm not the one to listen to if you're after a fair review of this movie. It's powerful, exciting, funny as hell, and full of heart... But that's coming from a fan. Granted I've met very few who were not a fan after seeing the movie, but I'm unapologetically biased. It's not for nothing that this movie means so much to those who love it. If you enjoyed Avengers, you owe it to yourself to experience Joss Whedon's feature film debut. For that matter, if you enjoy scifi, this is one of the best out there.

I LOVE THIS MOVIE I WISH THEY HADN'T ENDED THE THE T.V. SERIES FIRE FLY :-( This is one of the best sci fi movies ever!!!!! It had all the action anyone could ask for and the storyline was excellent, then throw in great actors and,now you have yourself a 5 star movie! AN INSTANT CLASSIC! EPIC! ABSOLUTELY BREATHTAKING! SCI FI DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS!
Space Opera's Platonic Form. But you don't have to be a space opera fan to enjoy this gem - you just need a sense of humor, some imagination and a taste for adventure. The writing is classic Whedon; the acting ranges from solid to inspired; and the plot is both intimate and epic. You don't have to be a fan of the show to enjoy this film; but I can't understand why anyone curious about this film wouldn't check out the show.
Absolutely fantastic!!! This is a great scifi movie!! The characters are well written, smart, funny (in the right way) and you care about them. The fx are great and the bad guy is a complex character. This movie starts with a bang and ends with the viewer very invested in the story. I am hoping for a sequel because this movie is so much better than most of the movies in this genre that are released. Also, if u liked the Firefly tv series this is a must see.
Fox's Greatest Failure There are many shows that Fox has killed off over the years but none as influential as Firefly. Serenity just takes what was great in the show and amplified it many times over.
Awesome Seriously I am a huge Firefly fan and this movie was so good. I wish it was longer! I laughed until I couldn't breath. I cried until my tears dried up. I was in awe of the action and mystery. I was on edge the whole time. My mind was blown. I couldn't even guess what might happen at most points like you can in other movies.
Great movie An awesome movie that brings closure to one of the best SciFi series that could never go mainstream. Worth every penny in my book, but it may not be for every one.
