It's so hard to describe how amazing Snowpiercer is without giving away everything that makes it amazing.
Peter Howell
You couldn't ask for a better metaphor for hell on Earth than what Bong Joon-ho has wrought with Snowpiercer: constant forward momentum while getting absolutely nowhere, suffering all the while.
David Denby
Violent, often absurd, but full of brilliant surprises.
Bruce Ingram
The future is miserably dystopian as usual in this apocalyptic sci-fi thriller, but at least it's thoughtful, stylishly crafted, high-speed misery that keeps on hurtling relentlessly forward --...
Wesley Morris
It's a downbeat spectacle. But very good, unforgettably bizarre, original filmmaking and adventurously explored ideas can leave you feeling high, especially when you don't know quite how it's been...
J. R. Jones
As with The Host, the political satire is teased out gradually as the story progresses and never intrudes on one's enjoyment of the movie's richly imagined world.

In the thick of summer, while Hollywood is busy cranking out cookie-cutter superhero movies and giant robot sequels, along comes Snowpiercer to show everyone how it's done.

Strong start, but completely goes off the rails. I'm giving it two stars for the Tilda Swinton's performance and the fantastic set design. Other than that, there's not much going on here. What starts off as a promising post-apocalypse mystery devolves into a really trite and convoluted bore. I love Bong Joon Ho's previous work, especially The Host. Hopefully this is just a misstep and not an indication of where the rest of his career is headed.

Its a decent movie I liked this movie up till the endish area. After the girl leaves the train I liked it again, but the whole part before that seemed like a really dumb idea if you're trying to survive. I would like to read the graphic novels and see if more was explained there. If you like movies that you can analyse, go for it. This movie is worth the time.

Message - Don't trust those that seem to help you. If you can disregard the few seconds where the premise of this movie is based on "climate change," understand that the message being conveyed is more a statement about those that would wish to be our dystopian overlords by offering what they term as "balance" in the world. This movie is extremely critical of those trying to bring the world into "balance" through ecology and population control. Ultimately, the movie shows that "balance" is not part of human nature, and human nature triumphs by facing adversity rather than simply following the misguided beliefs of a privileged few as to what they think the ideal ecological system should be for the planet. Think of Bio-Dome crossed with Road Warrior crossed with Drive, with a flavor of Thomas the Tank Engine.

Full of plot holes I don't know what's going on with all of the good reviews. I love a good Sci-Fi and this one was not it. The plot doesn't make much sense. All of the interesting characters die off early. The protagonist is hardly clever -- or even likable. Wish I would have picked another film to watch.

People are dumb. Don't listen to people bashing the movie. They are mouth-breathers. They try to sound smart with phrases such as "plot devices" and other vague movie review lingo that they copied off other actual film critics. The movie is entertaining. That is all it was ment for. People read wayyyyy too much into things. Not every movie is trying to sweep the Oscars. Take movies for what they are worth. Someone even bashed Tilda Swinton for her over-acting her character. She is supposed to be obsurd and over the top!

Great movie! Chris Evans said this is a movie that really should be watched on the big screen. Even though I just saw this movie on my computer, I would agree that his movie really should be watched on the big screen. Great movie! Would have given 5 stars if there was a little more to the ending. I hate movies that end the way this one did, but overall... great story, visually great... loved it.

Other than the cast and very good acting, their talent in my opinion, was a waste in this particular movie. Never judge a movies by the cover, synopsis and thr actors/actresses in it. I wanted to watch this for two reasons: Chris Evans and the movie being a post apocalyptic movie. The movie is slow, certain parts are good, some parts are bad. The thing that makes post apocalyptic movies good is survival at all odds, and hope. This film is very dark in mood and seems to be a political protest or conspiracy theory film suggesting this is how the world works. I am very displeased with the film and hype it was given for the actors, especially Chris Evans, though it is a poor movie. If this is anything like the book, well, it was a waste. I was so disappointed in the absent balance of character development and back story. A lot of plot holes, and a lot of bad characters. It is a great film though for certain moods, just not really for any of mine. God Bless you.

Good Movie Well Worth It Honestly I hate spending $4 on a rental so I was a little leary about spending $7 but i figured what the hell that's not to Bad since it's in theaters but I found that this is a one of a kind movie and story with a good cast of characters that dives into man's destruction of the earth, social class differences, cannibalism, martial arts, riots, sword play, gunfights, drugs, clairvoyance and a bullet train what else could be missing from a non stop action movie that actually makes you think. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because I found the ending to be kinda plain and predictable in the last minute if the movie but besides that it's well worth renting or buying since it's a good deal on a good movie that's in theaters now. One of Chris Evans best movies.

Worst sci-fi film since Avatar! Had such high hopes for this. Not since that sci-fi travesty called Avatar have I facepalmed so much during a movie. Full of plot holes, inconsistencies, bad and predictable "twists", and foreshadowing that plays out like a bull in a China shop. If you like this movie I seriously doubt your ability to think logically, as everything that happens is an affront to common sense. It's just... awful. Awful in every way a movie can be.

Not your typical Sci-fi action flick A thoughtful thriller about a microcosmic allegory for tyranny. Can humans truly be free if they are subject to the Malthusian machinations of those to whom they give power and the demands of the "greater good" of society? Can humans survive without the powerful and the belief in sacrifice for the greater good. I.E : Was Mr. Spock correct?

Don't watch it, even if your bored. Want to watch an absolutely horrible film with no purpose? Well then, I am happy to say this movie is perfect for you and your bad tastes. Absolutely nothing happens in this movie, and pretty much everyone dies. Chris Evans acting wasn't bad, but the script sure was. Wish I didn't watch it so I could have my time back. I just really wanted to know what happened in the end. If you're like me, LOOK IT UP. Don't waste your time with this horribly pointless film. Cool idea for a film, badly executed. Try again

Set expectations low I bought into the groundswell of hype that surrounded this Korean made movie. It definitely is unique but not always in a good way. The logic of survival on and off the train is silly at best and it takes away from what initially is an interesting idea. Plus since it is a Korean movie disturbing twists are thrown in just too make sure you are confused at whether this is a drama or fun sci-fi tale. See it but don't expect a new classic.
