Stephen Whitty
Few characters have much to do but grunt and scream and bleed.
Lou Lumenick
Been there, done that.
Mark Olsen
"Solomon Kane" succeeds by embracing its identity as a straightforward genre exercise, complete with bone-crunching and blood-spurting action. By not aiming for more, it hits its target.
Mark Feeney
Who knew there were skinhead and zombie equivalents in late-Elizabethan England?
Jeff Shannon
It's hardly original (and Max von Sydow is wasted in brief scenes as Kane's father), but "Solomon Kane" is worthy of big-screen appreciation.
Manohla Dargis
Mr. Basset is too enamored of the usual action film clichés ... But he has a graphic visual style that suits the simplistic material and he keeps you watching even as the wet, sucking sounds of skewered flesh grows tedious.

It grinds along on the dubious strengths of its generic battle sequences and midbudget special effects, whipped up around a stone-faced hero who's part Christ figure, part embodiment of wickedness, all crippling bore.

Good Do not the best movie but far far from the worst not everything can be lord or the rings so I don't know what people are complaining about . I liked the movie but I also liked the book and that goes for Conan also Although I did think Solomon Kane was better than Conan .
Dark and Evil Fantasy First of all I want to say this to everyone complaining about this rental being 10 bucks... You are a bunch a freakin' idiots. Yes, the movie was released in 2009, but it was a British release and is ONLY being put out now in America. You are paying under 10 bucks for a film that will not be in theaters for another month, and even there it would cost you a pretty penny. Stop giving low ratings because your life sucks and your stupid... As for the film, if you enjoy dark demonic fantasy stories this is surely one to see. There is a lot of fighting, but the storyline was captivating and kept you on the edge of your seat. It was well worth the money.
100X better than these stinking reviews say it is This was a well done movie after a great author who's works have endured almost 100years. the price is a little step but this movie hasn't hit the theaters yet. I give it ★★★★★!!!!!!! If you listen 2 the bad reviews its your loss
Good fun There's something charming about a "redemption" story line and Solomon Kane definitely has that going for it. Plenty of violence, gore, and CGI to boot makes this movie a must watch for fans of the genre, but it doesn't do anything new or unexpected. I would wait until the price goes down, it isn't worth paying $10 for the privilege of viewing now.
Very entertaining Starts off with just enough action to get your attention and keeps you deep in the story the whole way through. No one was going to hear the lamentations of this guys women. I love seeing a hero that comes from a rather gritty past because it give credence to the action when he starts tearing the real bad guys limb from limb.
Watchable This movie is 3 years old and the "before theaters" rental price (9.99 as of this writing) is a flat out crime! The play store entry conveniently neglects to inform the visitor of the fact this was a region restricted film (which is stupid in its own tight) in an effort to milk the wallets of people believing they are watching a brand new movie. IM highly disappointed with this sort of behavior. Do not rent for its current asking price of 9.99!
Not new Came out in 2009. Pretty cool movie. Its not worth $10 to rent though. For that price you might as well wait and buy it, or torrent it.
ALMOST!! If I would've paid $3.99 for this movie, I would have probably given it 4 stars!! But for $9.99 my expectations were a bit elevated!! I can't honestly recommend!! I'm very sorry!! At least until the price drops!! The lead actor, and most of the acting was outstanding!!
Solid flick Good movie, says it's before release, but it was released in Europe years ago. Not sure if it will ever make it to the big screen in the states, but it's better than most movies in the theaters right now. Worth the $10
Had so much potential. Acting was good. Average action with a boring bad guy. Plot had potential, but couldn't hold the movie together.
Obvious & Disappointing; Othwerise Drinking Game! Captain Kane, I mean Captain Obvious spends the entire movie telling us what just happened in this Pilgrim Jesus savior film that is overall quite disappointing. This movie would be best as a drinking game: take a shot whenever you see a cross.
Dark and exciting film.. Finally getting a release after 3 or 4 years overseas, a great and amazing thriller in the vein of the original Conan film. Why this never got released in the US and the awful Conan remake did is beyond me...
Puritan superhero? We rented this because I loved James Purefoy in Rome. Not enough sex and he kept his shirt on too much. He's still rugged eye candy, though ...
Epic breath of fresh air! Truly stands out from the endless supply of crap, that Hollywood mass produces these days. Equally as good a movie as Avengers.

Ong Bak 2: The Beginning
Muay Thai martial arts master Tony Jaa returns to deliver a bone-breaking barrage of knees and elbows in this action opus that finds the star not only delivering blows in front of the camera, but calling the shots behind it as well. Despite the title's indication of this film as a sequel to 2003's Ong-Bak: The Thai Warrior, this movie has no narrative connection to the events of the earlier work, despite the fact that both films star Jaa.
