Aimed at a devotional middle-American audience, this never risks the sort of individual perspective necessary to bring the story to life onscreen, for good or ill.
Stephan Lee
At best, this version succeeds as a Sunday school supplement. But the blandness is enough to make you long for Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ.
Wesley Morris
People will always want to spend money for this sort of thing, even if they've already seen it. And in this case, they've literally already seen it.
Ben Kenigsberg
The film goes wild with helicopter shots of Jesus and his followers traveling through the hills. Who knew Christ was lord of the rings?
Bilge Ebiri
The target evangelical audience may well respond enthusiastically, but, unless your own salvation is riding on it, the film is mostly a slog.
Alan Scherstuhl

By playing it so safely reverential, Son of God tends to plod its way to Calvary, begging to be discussed among Bible study groups and positively name-checked in the Sunday sermons.

Wonderful!! When reading the Holy Bible, the Holy Spirit must give witness and revelation for a person to know, understand, and act on the truth that will set them free. It is the same with a movie such as Son of God. We pray that the Holy Spirit will quicken the spirit of the unbeliever, drawing them close by His love, wisdom and power. For the born-again believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, we say "Yes!" He came as the sacrificial Lamb for the sin of man; to wear a crown of thorns. He has returned wearing the Crown of the King of kings. His Kingdom has come. His will shall be done, on earth as it is in Heaven! Jesus said "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; and no one comes to the Father except through Me."
Son of God This is an Awesome movie it's very informative and so factual and I really loved it it really showed me emotionally just how Mary felt at watching the Roman Goverment put her loving and caring yet Innocent Son be put to Death cause the Goverment didn't want the true meaning of why they really killed Jesus the Son of God they truly didn't want the public to know they were not Worshiping the One True God of the Bible but in their minds they were Worshiping their Idea of WHO they thought God was you just have to see it for yourself so get the true effect of what the Son of God went through. Enjoy
Amazing Movie This movie is amazing, I cried in certain parts where I watched this. For those people who are speaking bad about it and claim they are so Christian they are being hypocrites. Jesus even spoke out to the hypocrites who claimed they were men of God and yet they could not see that he is the son. Why has this message not reached the hypocrites who speak bad of this. As the son of God said "Lord forgive them, for they know not what they do." I wish that the lord may forgive your sins.
I enjoyed watching this movie more than any other movie in My whole life This is more than a movie its a a true sacred story thats what I love about this movie I feel like its worth gold I feelt so relieved and at peace when I watched this movie I couldn't be any more relaxed and worry free watchin this movie just reminds Me that God loves Me and loves everybody and I'm thankful of what he did for The World :)
Son of God I loved Jesus movie mostly because of the crucifixion, when he died in the cross to pardon our sins so one day we could enter in heaven and be saved. He didn't come to destroy peoples' lives he came to save us he is god that made us and loves us he is not evil he is our father in heaven, I remember what Peter said in the new testament God is not the one that has the fault of the evil in the world is the brother wood of the world. So fellas Christians I used to think wrong too but at the end people who looks for God and loves him like I do Jesus will never lives you abandoned and at the end you will inherent the kingdom of heaven and the new promised Israel bless God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit Amen.
Basic Understanding - The Holy Bible This movie will give a young child and young adult a basic understanding into several of Jesus Christ's goal while He lived on planet earth and subsequently return to Heaven to accomplish His goal there, and at the proper season return to planet earth for those that Listen, Obey and Love Him. The Visual Effects was an 8 out of a possible 10.
amazing when i went to see this movie the day it came out , i was enthrawled into the screen the whole time . i cried the whole time . it was so surreal and inspirational . the concepts that my pastor preaches about and the things we learn in sunday school touchs all of this movie . God sent His ONLY son to go and die for US . but if only the Pharisees knew that He said "if i be lifted up , i will draw all men unto me" .. and thats exactly what Jesus did . i love the Lord and i will praise His name forever !
Not that great.... My perspective of this movie is as a Christian viewer. It saddens me that many Christians have rated this movie so well. If you are looking for a loosely based biblical account of Jesus, this movie hits the mark. If you are looking for a re-hash of The Bible series that was recently televized, this is a must see. If you are looking for a watered down version of Christianity, this will fit the bill perfectly. If you really want to know who the Son of God is read the Gospels of Matthew, Luke, Mark, and John.
The son of god A great movie that will make you cry but when you cry gods presence is right by saying that's my dauter but when you doing stuff that is bad the bad guy is saying that this person is coming with me this movie is about god bringing his only son to earth so he can save us every one of you should now that gods your Shepard he is your father and you will be goig through hard lives but god is going to give you the strength and that has bin over you shall have pease bless you all that have Jesus in you heart Amen
Great. I apologize for my ignorance if there was more in the movie added vs. The TV Series on History, but from what I saw in the mini-series, this was a great film and wonderful to watch with the family. For Christians like myself, you will not be disappointed by this film in the least and for anyone curious about the Bible from the Old to New testament, this is a great start.
Get hours more footage with The Bible series on Netflix it is done by the same producer director and actor. I am certain they just took footage from the series and created this. When I saw the pic I thought it was for The Bible the trailer is the same as the series lines and everything. I loved the series. I'm recovering from a loss of faith, and I've been reading my Bible and watching lots of biblical history stuff I found the series by accident it starts with Genisis and moves at a steady pace to the new testament. Diogo Morgado is beautiful as Jesus.
