Ben Sachs
Mickle's observation of a devastated working-class America is so sharp that the horror elements, though effectively handled, come to feel like an afterthought.
Ethan Gilsdorf
Other undead movies needlessly foreground the action. "Stake Land'' has its fight scenes, but here they're secondary.
Nigel Floyd
Jeff Grace's melancholy music underscores the atmosphere of bleak dystopian despair, leavened by flashes of humour and hope.
Robert Abele
Shows that a savvy mixture of characterization, atmosphere and gore-eographed suspense can make even the most familiar fright tropes feel vaguely organic again.
Peter Hartlaub
"Stake Land" bursts with action, ideas and interesting characters.
Michael Phillips
Mickle has talent, and the end credits include a character known as "French Canadian Cannibal," which is worth a half-star right there.

A must see for zombie lovers! Written and filmed with surprisingly good quality! I first started watching this movie because I couldn't settle for anything else. it didn't take long to get my full attention, this film takes a new twist on the zombie theme. The closest thing that I can compare the atmosphere of the movie is to the show "the walking dead". If you like that show than you'll like this.

Overall a good movie. Although I did enjoy this movie, the vampires don't quite seem like vampires. You could have called them zombies and the movie honestly would have made a bit more sense because they're basically just mindless corpses who hunger for blood. If you can get passed that, the post-apocalyptic world of humans fighting for survival is very interesting and the blood is plentiful. A great watch!

The Mist
David Drayton (Thomas Jane) and his young son Billy (Nathan Gamble) are among a large group of terrified townspeople trapped in a local grocery store by a strange, otherworldly mist. David is the first to realize that there are things lurking in the mistÉdeadly, horrifying thingsÉcreatures not of this world. Survival depends on everybody in the store pulling togetherÉbut is that possible, given human nature? As reason crumbles in the face of fear and panic, David begins to wonder what terrifies him more: the monsters in the mistÑor the ones inside the store, the human kind, the people that until now had been his friends and neighbors? In this legendary tale of terror from master storyteller Stephen King, the thin veneer of civilization is stripped away, the masks are discarded, and the true horror is revealed as us.
Halloween (2007)
From acclaimed musician and filmmaker Rob Zombie (The Devil's Rejects, House of 1000 Corpses) comes an entirely new take on the highly successful and terrifying Halloween legacy that began in 1978. While revealing a new chapter in the established Michael Myers saga, the film will surprise both classic and modern horror fans with a departure from prior films in the Halloween franchise. Audiences should brace themselves for unprecedented fear as Zombie turns back time to uncover the making of a pathologically disturbed, even cursed child, named Michael Myers. 1408 (Director's Cut)
Adapted from the terrifying short story by suspense master, Stephen King. Renowned horror novelist Mike Enslin (John Cusack) believes only in what he can see with his own two eyes. But after a string of bestsellers discrediting paranormal events in the most infamous haunted houses and graveyards around the world, he has no real proof of life...afterlife. But Enslin's phantom-free run of long and lonely nights is about to change forever when he checks into suite 1408 of the notorious Dolphin Hotel for his latest project, "Ten Nights in Haunted Hotel Rooms." Defying the warnings of the hotel manager (Samuel L. Jackson), the author is the first person in years to stay in the reputedly haunted room. Another bestseller may be imminent, but like many Stephen King heroes, first he must go from skeptic to true believer -- and confront his demons to survive the night.
